I love those. The 50`s/60`s cars are perfect for this. I want one ! Do you think those might make a good theme for the SAC or maybe a comp on here? I just thought they were so clever. I'm a big fan of the 1950's cars, especially the ones with the big fins on the back. There is just something about all the chrome and the big smiling grills that really appeals to me.

Possum, I agree. They are just magical. I can still recall polishing the chrome on my first car! Although I love my car, there is no chrome to polish. Mind you, none to get rusty either!

The sun finally really came out today. Still temperatures around zero degree if you are in the shade. But quite comfortable if you are doing something and in the sun. Had a good long walk today. Really needed some light. Ehh. Now my feet are sore. ;D

On the other side of the globe - it is too hot for long walks still.
I am glad you got to do something nice. I like the changing of the season. Like when you can smell spring in the air.

I am so loving Sculptris ! It is so easy to use and it's almost like working with modeling clay so you can achieve so many styles and textures with it. I love how you can import new materials to use. I wish the painting tools were better, but I'll get better with them as I work with them more. I highly recommend it to everyone on here !
I might install Blender eventually because I've tried it out before but my computer at the time wasn't powerful enough. The new one should handle it no problem. It does some amazing stuff and also works with Sculptris.

;D Just saw a funny advertising / Aprils fool joke.
A man wants to go in to the national museum of art. But a guard stops him and tells him that the place is closed for good. All the art has been digitalized and now he can only see it on the web. All the paintings is put in storage, and they are giving away what cant fit in the storage. The man is very confused and disappointed, but just when he is about to leave, he is told that he is on hidden camera.
It is all part of a adverticing campain from the museum. ;D

Yeah, it was a good joke. Took me a while to realize it, but the home page looked like it was made by a 13 years old. One of the PB members said he was leaving for AngryBoards, classic.
I also noticed we have 39 members already, actually 37, if one discount the two extra admin accounts, but that's a good number. It seem this board is really attracting attention, but not enough posters.

WARNING: Long rambling rant ahead. With a good ending. We have been (for several months now) in the process of switching to a new tax database vendor. They have been here for weeks training people and for the most part ignoring me. My job is an integral part of the property tax process and to this point no body from their company has given me the time of day other than to tell me they have a process in place to provide the data to the GIS people. When I tried to find out what they "had in place", I would get the run around and double talk that our GIS vendor would be able to take care of it. I tried to explain that we have no GIS vendor and I am the entire GIS department. They looked at me like I was stupid. Wednesday, I told one of the trainer ladies that "I'm an old guy and that I have a very low threshold for bullsh**. She said that someone would call me. Today the guy called. What he told me was only remotely close to the little that they had told me over the past few weeks. We got down to business and he installed the needed database connector drivers over the internet. Impressive. Then he explained how it all worked. It's nothing like I have ever worked on in all the 25 years I've been doing this. He then said, "I'll leave you to play around with it and call me when you have questions". So there I set, completely confounded. I played around with it for a while and then went back to working on a new banner for the Sheriff's website. While I was focused on that, it came to me how to get the data out and change the field names so they would match the data in my GIS website and the software that the Tax Assessor uses, a very critical part of the process. After about another 40 minutes and two failures, the third try was the charm and out came the data in the exact format I needed. This whole process taught me two things. 1. It's all just data no matter what format they put it in, and 2. even a blind pig will find an acorn every once in a while. I stuck my head in my bosses office and told her everything was golden and I had the data out in the way I needed it. She smiled and said I knew you could do it. It's nice to have a boss who believes in you.

That's definitely golden. The part made me smile when your boss said she believes in you.

I`ve noticed that there are not many people using the new chat room. I think it`s more to do with the time zones than anything. Whenever I`m online there are only 1, maybe 2 others online at the same time. Everyone visits the forum at different times. Maybe we should arrange a `chat in' at a certain time so whoever joins the conversation will have some one to talk to.

For me it would only happen on a weekend because the other nights I have to turn in early to get my beauty sleep. So far it's not working, I still look the same. @ Helen & Barbie. Thanks ! She is a great boss who has been a big supporter. I really liked my last boss but she had a completely different style. They are related. Very long story. I've been lucky to have had both of them as bosses. Even longer story, I'll be moving to a new department this week and getting a new boss. I used to work for him and have known him for over 10 years. His daughter used to work for me. I'll be in the same office building as my sister and another good buddy. Very excited !

I've moved my office. Easier said than done. Still don't have my phone transfered and our servers aren't configured correctly either. I've gone from having really good office furniture to a mix of antique tables and desks and hand me down desk, but I really don't mind as long as I am comfortable. This is going to be great ! I'm out of the way of traffic so people will have to need to find me and I won't have as many lost people ending up in my office. I have a separate office adjacent to mine for my servers. It's nice to have things consolidated. It's funny how things can be contagious. Since I moved in, the entire office complex is now being re-arranged. They are moving filing cabinets around and opening up the common space. It's going to make the office more comfortable for everyone and still retain the privacy.
After all the moving and being as sore and tired as I've been in a while, we had our e-waste day this morning. Kenny (one of the maintenance guys), my wife, and three inmates from the jail, cleaned out a ton of junk computer equipment from a storage area and hauled it to the street where a re-cycler had a crew and a two big trucks. They had it set up so people could just drive through and drop off old computers, televisions, appliances, and other electronic stuff. It will keep it all out of the landfill or being dumped on the side of the roads. I'm sore as hell, but I feel pretty good about it. It strikes me as funny how with all the talk about the environment the liberals at the office do, it was three conservatives and three inmates that hauled off all the junk. Ironic?

You got it right the first time when you said "with all the talk..."
We, too have had to rearrange the entire building, on the say-so of a manager 800 kilometres away. Not only did it cause massive disruptions to the workflow, but it caused a lot of sore backs & grief from people who didn't want to move.
Despite me now having 2 training rooms instead of one, I disagreed with the entire thing because it has seriously disadvantaged one of the other programs. The two wonderful women that run the program really did not need the grief.
Good to see that you at least got some help. I suppose that once everything settles it will be good for both of us.

As many of you know that I am deaf, and recently, my wife and I bought a hearing aid for me to be able to hear. Right now, I'm listening to contemporary Christian praise and worship music. It is so amazing how uplifting music can be. I cannot understand the words, but I can hear the instruments (can't tell what they are), and can hear them singing.

Lance, I didn't know you were deaf. What an amazing moment it must have been for you to hear music, which has an extraordinary effect on most people. You will now have a wonderful new 'sense' to enjoy, and will be able to listen to a wide variety. This is such up-lifting news. Congratulations
