Make Smoke with Liquify plugin Plugins for this tutorial: Liquify by Pyrochild1- Open new file 600w x 800H, or any size as you like 2- Fill it with solid black color 4- Make random lines and curves with 4-pix white brush 3- Gaussian blur to 4 5- Fragment blur as shown below: 6- Use Liquid plugin to distort the blurred lines as desired. 7- duplicate layer, set its blend mode to Additive and distort it slightly, and you can tint it with any color then flatten and save: You can repeat steps 7 once or more as liking, to get something like this: Here some more samples:

Here`s my go - `By Candlelight'. Not 100% sure about the colour of the smoke though.Maybe it should have been more greyish. What do you think?

This was a fun tutorial. After several frustrating hours of being unable to get through the more advanced tutorials, it's great to finally complete something. I found a picture via google that I thought would look good with the smoke. Is it okay to do that? Anyway, thanks for the tutorial.
