Very nice snow pictures, Helen. Lassie is so cute withe the snow on her nose. My dog does that too. Snow is so pretty when it first falls, not so nice when it turns to slush.
Aislin, those are great pictures. The mushrooms / toadstools are gorgeous, and I really like the scene of the trees and water.

great pics everyone. I still have to take the time to learn my camera I got in November. I've been lazy on learning things and being creative lately. This might help me to be inspired!

Got lazy and hit the like button too much. The snow really was nice to see and has cheered more than once over the last week.
@vin: Definitely break in that camera. Worse case is you'll be inspired to just take more pictures. Good chance of course you'll be inspired to warp the daylights out of them (pun intended.)

Yep, & here we are in autumn...still hot as ten thousand ovens outside.
Lassie, is not minding one little bit. It is as if she is saying, "Snow, yeah, what is your problem with that?"

Its a beautiful shot. I only miss snow as a nostalgia thing. Dealing with actual snow is not as fun as when you're a kid ...
I'm stuck on a point of humor that I've had to sort of contemplate before voicing it ... My first impression was, "That's a whole lot of Yellow snow ... poor dog is gonna need a bath."
I'm well beyond my initial humor reaction to the color tone of the snow, and I hope you catch my drift (pun intended) on the twisted humor.
Thanks for sharing some of that snow. Even though I'm on the correct side of the equator for it to be Winter, it has been more like late spring off and on far too much here. A mixed blessing for all that but I do like a little more impression of Winter or even brisk Spring when given 1/2 the chance.

@barbie: It's so interesting about the time and weather differences. We all share the same sun, too. And yes, Lassie enjoys the snow very much. She was lying in it all day yesterday, though I had to shoo her off so she won't catch a cold. You think she listened to me? delpart: I don't mind your humor at all. Also, I think I mentioned on DA that this is only our third time having snow this year. Weather is so different nowadays.

Awww, what a cute picture! We've had snow here too, and even when it's officially spring, I still expect more snow. I just finished shoveling and now I'm enjoying a hot chocolate.

Hello all A mourning dove found a place to nest in my yard this year. Was trying out a new to me really cheap feeder; this purple finch liked it. Oops, female cardinal.

Dotty I had to look to see where you were from because I have a dove like that in my backyard too! They've been nesting there for a while. I love the sound they make.
What a great bird feeder - easy to see when it needs a top-up.

Hi all My sister, who was visiting for a couple of weeks, wanted to go to Garden Of The Gods in Shawnee National Forest, Illinois. We got there and it was beautiful.

Dottie, that is a nice shot. There's nothing for me to use (person, animal) to get a sense of size, but I'm thinking those ravines are deeper than they appear.

Dotty, the photos are amazing. I'm surprised the mourning dove's all by itself. Love the cardinal, too. The National Forest photo is amazing. I've never seen such rock structures in my life. Maybe some day I will...

I love the Garden of Gods picture. Rocks are so cool.
The bird pics are great. I might have to try out a feeder like that, since the squirrels destroyed ours.

Hi, I'm glad everyone likes the picture, I think it was one of the best I took that day, We were on a little walkway that wound its way around the edge of the formations and eventually got to the other side that you see in the picture. Sorry I don't have a size comparison, but you wouldn't want to fall off anywhere. This was the edge of an inland sea a million or so years ago. I've seen similar structures in southern Missouri, but these were quite amazing. Helen, I do have photo with both doves in it and I think one is feeding the little one, but I thought this photo looked clearer. Blackpenny, the bottle in the picture is plastic, it wouldn't last no time with squirrels. I have a problem with grackles so I took it down. I have several squirrel proof feeders that work against bully birds too. I'm on Flickr now and as soon as I figure out how post my page address with my sig, I will. Did away with my Flickr account today.

Some truly fantastic shots above. I thought I'd share a photograph my son took on a geography field trip last week: He's such a miserable bar-steward at home I never realised he could be so sensitive ...

Pretty butterfly WelshBlue. Not as colorful as many other butterfly photos, but pretty in its one way. A few photo-es i made today. Humans wanted an asphalt path here. But nature retaliated. ;D And finally one from my living room.
