Possum, that was Welshy's design, not mine.

I am almost done with a painting. Whew. Painting faces are harder than I thought. It's actually one of Sandra Kuck's paintings that I am using as a reference--a request by my family.

to all pdn Shielas' -n- Bruces' regards.j.d. That cracks me up every time I see it. Before the horrible accident in the genetics laboratory, I was a meek and mild guy named Bruce. Ah, that was so very long ago......

It was pleasant today. Not too cold, a bit windy, but I was outside all afternoon splitting wood, keeping the wood pile stocked so we will be able to keep our electric bill down. Not only that, the exercise of swinging the ax to the wood was great.

Not only that, the exercise of swinging the ax to the wood was great. I think I read somewhere that Charles Bronson used to split wood as a form of exercise. That's one part of having gas central heating I miss. Along with the cosy glow a proper fire gives. Pleasure: Finally getting my music playlists into a findable order. And all backed up. Then my 2 daughters getting to know each other on facelessbook.

It feels great when everything is in order, eh? Backing up is something I am getting a bit slack at.
Ah, yes, Welshy, chopping wood is so very therapeutic. It warms twice too! I got my axe out of retirement on Friday afternoon & chopped some limbs off a feral tree (Pepper Tree? has the most wonderful red berries that look like pink peppercorns. Highly toxic.) Hubby was gobbed-smacked when he saw the fallen timber. "Just how long have you been out here?" Me says, "only about 45 minutes" truthfully. So then hubby bought me a MULCHER! He borrowed a sabre saw, which I still think looks like an electric knife for trees...you should see what HE did!
Not to be outdone, the neighbors started trimming all their trees too but with a chainsaw (show offs!)
I bought 5 new palms with ceramic pots to match. Put in the new garden complete with fence & hubby made the gate (wooden one of course...). So happy with my peace garden, all mulched & so is the rest of the gardens. Could be happier or more sunburnt & sore ;D

We are smack dab in the middle of the biggest winter storm in years. If you look at the US national weather map, we are in the middle of Indiana, right in the pink (ice) area with freezing rain to the south and a blizzard to the north. As long as it stays ice pellets (sleet), we should keep the power on. We had some freezing rain last night, but it only amounted to about a quarter inch or so. Once this stuff blows through, we have 3 or 4 inches of snow behind it. I'm just thankful that so far, power is still on. ;D Also, glad I'm not in Chicago where they are predicting 2 feet of snow and blizzard conditions.

Wild weather everywhere!
We are looking down the throat of one of the worst cyclones to hit us in living memory. 100klm eye & 500klm wide, winds of about 300klm/h & a metre of rain expected. (3 feet of rain on top of what we've already had).
I am so worried & so must a lot of people be because the shops are looking mighty empty again.
If you pray, then pray for Queensland because we need it too. I am not directly in the path of the cyclone but these things can change quickly. Again, I find myself crying for all those people. The cleanup was well under way but still had a long way to go. The bridges that were swept away still need to be rebuilt & we have to find the money from somewhere. Our wonderful Premier has decided to hit us with a flood tax & raise the vehicle registrations by $100 or so per year.
I pay 50% personal income tax, 10% GST, 2.5% health levy & we won't even mention the fuel tas! If the riverbank wasn't flooded, I should just go & live there. One of our illustrious Prime Minister said life wan't meant to be easy but I am sure it isn't meant to be that blasted hard either!
Possum, I hope you stay safe & don't lose power. Without your socks you'd freeze off your little Possum toes! Poor Chicago. I'd happily exchange some of the heat here for some coolness. I believe in sharing & someone probably needs some rain more than we do too.

I'll be looking out for those snappies.
Today hubby & I did some retail therapy & I got some beautiful red venetian glass, a little jug.
I had the day off yesterday after being assaulted at work. I am fine but I have pressed charges. Gonna be tough but I have to do this for me.
I mowed the yard & cleaned up the rest of the trees we trimmed. Bought a couple of new plants (close your eyes Lance!) Last weekend we bought a mulcher. Boy can that thing chomp! I've now got the entire yard mulched. It is so pretty. Glad I mowed yesterday too because it is raining again today.
Found some self-seeded plants too - always a bargain!

Barbieq - that's awful that you were assaulted. My hubby and I often say we take our hats off to teachers in todays world, as the scum out there is simply appauling. Good on you to press charges

I'm glad you're okay too, barbie. And it sounds like you're getting your yard in shape. Mine could use some work, but I really don't like gardening.

The court stuff will be the hardest to deal with but I have to see it through.
I'd be happy to help out with anyones garden! I love to see things grow.
I stained some cheap wooden shoe rack today to use as shelving for some more succulents & cacti...need more little pots. I often go to the trash shop & get old cups, bowls etc & then have to con hubby into drilling holes for me.

I had the day off yesterday after being assaulted at work. I am fine but I have pressed charges. Gonna be tough but I have to do this for me. DO press charges. Not for the revenge, but to stand by your right to be respected. And unfortunately some people don't understand they have done something wrong, unless there doings come right back at them. Found some self-seeded plants too - always a bargain! Keep them if you by any means can. I often see self seeded plants being the strongest.

Thanks for your support too Leif. Without going into details, at the jail, there were 2 other students in the room, a guard outside the door, I wear a duress alarm & he launches a sexual attack on me. There is something not right with this man. I am hoping that by pressing charges he will get help. My biggest concern is what might have happened had we not been in a room with others. More than anything, I want to prevent another tragedy. He is now in solitary for his own safety. Tell-a-woman method of communication has nothing on the jail's grapevine. Back to the garden, I agree Leif. It is such a bargain too

That is just an awful thing to have happened to you BBQ. You must feel so violated. I hope you will be able to get over this really soon. Nothing like Garden therapy. I am longing for Spring and, this year, I'm going to have a go at planting, from seed, Hollyhock, Persian Jewels, Alyssum, Asters & Dahlias. Last year, when visiting my daughter on the mainland, her neighbour had Dahlia's the size of dessert plates hanging over her fence........ this is my dream to have the same

Pixey that sounds great! Too hot here for those but I got some great new palms. One of the bromeliads is flowering! Woohoo! It is a hot red & I expect it will have purple tips. When it's done flowering it'll get pups. I am excited about that.
Didn't stay at work today...doing some from home...very tired & concentration is bad. I'll have to do some artwork see if I can't paint myself out of this. Shrink tomorrow & hopefully some answers.

so sorry to hear your bad news bbq. but you are doing the right thing by taking action against the assailaint...some people just never learnt that there may be consequences to their actions or the difference between right -n-wrong!...hence where they ended up...you are strong, and though this may have knocked your confidence..temporarily...you will recover...these setbacks that life throws at us are designed to test us...and ultimately..make us the people we are today... thinking of you...
regards j.d.
