Love the 3 rings. Awesome. The only thing that got Blended when I tried to work it out was my head ...

I'm finally starting to get an understanding of Blender. Here are some of the images I've made. The first one I did I can't post because it's an animation and I can't seem to figure out how to output it. Anyway, here are my other attempts. The render engine in Blender is not as good as I had hoped it would be so I think at some point I will have to learn how to use Luxrender. But there is just still so much to learn...... You are off to a fabulous start, Possum. Remember this, Blender doesn't have a good caustic rendering, and yes, you'll have to use something like LuxRender, Yafray, or Kerkythea *cough cough* I like the 3 Rings best, and I was thinking if you added a bit more self-emitting lights, you've nailed it.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I have to admit I still have a long long way to go. I'm just scratching the surface of Blender. I love the potential of the Lux Render, but it takes way too long to render things for me. I'll post something later that I did. It's just text for a web banner and I finally gave up on it after 17 hours. That's not gonna work on a complex image so I need to find something that I can use that will be faster. Or I need to set it up to run on my work server and let it run overnight.
What kind of render times are you guys getting with your render engines?

Possum, with the latest release candidate of Kerkythea "Boost," it has increased rendering time a lot more, so I can't really give you an honest answer. I have learned to keep everything to scale, and that increase the speed of rendering time. The more lights I have, the better, and using the right kind of material, index of refraction, and etc, goes a long way in the speed of rendering.
