Hope it is good : It certainly is. I looked at it before reading the post; and i must admit that it took a while to figure out what was real or not. I actually think it is the background that gives away that it is not 100 % real. Great work.

I, too, thought the grapes were real (the thumbnail of it). I then read your post and realized you drew them. They're really beautiful. I like how you added your own photography to this image. Really neat!

Here's me thinking what a great bunch of grapes Sargon grew!
A brilliant concept & so beautifully done! I love images like this too where they are super real. I love the way you have done your sig too.
I adore the way you blend the real with PDN. Keep it up!

Excellent work Sargon. I think they look incredibly realistic. You`ve done a superb job with the texture of the grapes. I just want to pick one and eat it! ;D
The one thing that I have a problem with though are the curly tendrils. Are they supposed to disappear into the bunch of grapes or just hang down in front? I do think they get in the way a bit. They look great coming out of the tree as they do but it`s the grapes that is the main focus of this image and they tend to draw your attention away instead of letting you concentrate on the those beautiful grapes. I would still keep them but how about having them trail off in a different direction instead?
Maybe you could also add some foliage in the background, then blur it a bit to give the image a bit of depth. I think that would look great as well.
Hope you don`t mind me picking your grapes (pun intended! ;D) like this. It really is a lovely image.

This is a fantastic image. I appreciate when the technique of how it was done is included in the comments. I agree with Helen, I like when photography is part of an image. After all, a camera is just another tool like when other software is used. Great job.

Been a long busy week, Leif, thanks so much. Helen, I too like mix real objects with drawings, use to do that before, but with PDN is much easier. @barbie, thanks for the great comment, I am glad you liked it, means a lot. @goonie, eat as much as you could ;D, and yes the tendrils are in front, I see your point, and you're right because in reality they wrap around objects like branches and woods..etc., but they look free in my image lol, I posting the PDN file down if someone is interested to see it and/or play with it. @peterpawn, thank you very much, I do agree with you about the camera, and you can do a lot of tricks by combining photos with paintings. venicet, thank you so much blackpenny, thanks so much. I was playing with some cogs, to get a 3D effect, although, with the mistakes in the lighting and perspective, but I like the way the texture suited the surfaces:

Nice work with the cogs Sargon. I like the way you have used angled teeth on the large ones. It`s funny how you rarely see them made like this, people tend to create normal ones most of the time so it`s nice to see something different. I think the texture of the poles looks great but I would try to make the cogs a bit more `metallic' if you know what I mean. I know they are supposed to be all rusty and I think the colour is good but is a little dull and needs `livening up' . You are right about the perspective and the lighting but as you are already ready aware of it I won`t say much more about it. All in all a great image, just needing a bit of refinement here and there. Really well done Sargon. (thanks for grapes - they taste lovely! ;D ) EDIT - I`ve had a play around with your grapes. I hope you don`t me posting them here. It is your image and your work after all . I have added that leafy background I mentioned . I then adjusted the colours to match your leaves, then used a mixture of the soften portrait, combined adjustments and unfocus plug ins to blur them a bit to give the image some depth. The tendrils I just moved down a couple of layers so they go behind the grapes now. I thought you did such a great job making them I was not about to delete them or anything that`s for sure! I hope you like what I have done. It was such a great image there wasn`t much that needed doing . Anyway here it is -

You've stepped it up a gear or 2 ... ;D ;D
Truly awesome mate. I love everything about this ... superb colours and textures. Non-shininess doesn't bother me because I've been in enough sheds sourcing stuff to curse at all the rust dust going everywhere
How'd you do the 2 'flared' cogs ?

Goonfella, the grape it really looks much better with this background and by hiding the tendrils, its alright mate, the image is for education purpose, that's why I needed to show all the details, but I really love your version, I am thinking filling the background as yours, thanks so much for input. And I enhanced the contrasted on the gears image, and got this: TheBad1, thanks mate for the comment, lol it is a sewer box thing image And if you mean this shape of cogs, then click the image to take you to a simple video tut, I am sure you can understand the steps: To add the texture just Overlay it on the gears, tilt the texture layer for the top of the cog to get some perspective look.

I always take a look at your videos for inspiration. Pretty cool cogs! I wouldn't have the slightest idea on how to even approach to make them.

I liked the lots of visible tendrils on the grapes but I also like the leafier version of Goonies.
The cogs are superb. I too loved the video. Agree - ingenious! Thanks so much for sharing. You are a gem!

Thank you Goonfella, Welshblue, Blackpenny, Helen, Venicet, Barbie and Pixey, I really appreciate your comments and nice words. I am trying here the WormGear ( I think this what they call it), there are some other gear types I am trying to PDN those as well :

Great concept, Sargon. I think there are a few types of worm gears too. Very useful they are.
A few lighting issues but my biggest question is how to get the main gear/cog looking more realistic. I am sure you will figure it out.
Again, a great job you did here! Looking forward to seeing more cog/gear style from you.
