Amazing how little changes make things turn out. Mace came out great from my eye at least. That's one of those style of renderings that can be redone a thousand times and never finished. Everyone has their own version of them in their head ...
The phonograph is simple breathe taking. I'm curious where or with what you were making that funnel to head into that direction. It almost looks like something you could start in PDN, but I'm not sure how you'd do it if so.
As always, very impressed by you talents and thank you for sharing these with us.

I preach about not supporting people and I haven't commented on the gramophone. My Bad. As awesome a piece as will ever be seen, that's made with PDN IMO. Everything about it shrieks quality. Lovely details mate

Thanks Barbie, Helen, Venicet, Pixey, Blackpenny, Delpart, Weshblue and Aislin, for the nice words and comment, sorry for being too late to thank you all. Haven't posted here since last year, damn me, so sorry I was trying some sand dunes effect with PDN and Got this: The flower is an old pdn file, some of you may remember it.

The sand dunes look stunning! I love the rippled effect. It makes it look much more realistic . Although I think a cactus would have been more appropriate in a desert. Nicely done flower though, even if it is an old one. Good work Sargon.

Looking at it on the thumbnail is looks like a photo.
A very friendly desert I think. I love that flower & it fits perfectly in the scene. Sorry Goonie ;D The colours are reflected in the tips & the ripples of the sand are sort of mimicked in the leaves' veins. What a fabulous job you did to create such great dunes! Stunning!

Again, sorry goonie, the desert is full of wonderful flowering things. Especially near dunes. ;D Used to be my playground, so I have to say that fits wonderfully. And like the real thing, its not a field, but more often a solitary wonder that sticks out and is even more awesome for it. Great effect on the ripples. The size or depth seems off though. Probably because of the rocks being there. Hard to describe how it seems mapped without the right reflection depth. This is something I was fighting (still fighting with) on the displacement ideas is how to get that lighting right so the depth doesn't flatten on some of it. Of course, the problem is I know its slightly off (ever so I should also add) but I'm not sure how you'd correct it. I still feel odd not being able to offer solution in the critique like this. The other is that only one dune in the back has a true depth while the others are more cartoon. This could also be what is throwing off the others in the foreground. Of course this is experiment, so perhaps I'm digging too far here.

Flower fits perfectly in this scene. It kind of makes the picture have a reason, if you understand? Without it the picture would just be a dull dune like aaaaal the others. But the flower makes it all unique. Great composition.

Lovely desert, Sargon! Goonie, would you feel better about the flower if I told you it was a type of succulent?

Alright, the flower is actually an imaginary modified (smoothed) from "Blessed Milk Thistle flower" not sure if you are familiar with that, The 3rd one here some details: campus.udayton.edu/mary/gallery/exhibits/barrish01.htmlThanks everyone for the nice comment. @ Goonie, thanks mate, I know what you mean exactly, but I didn't like to appear that I am hijacking Welshy's latest work Cactus, although, to say the truth, Welshy's image inspired me somehow to try the dunes. @ barbie, thanks for the lovely comment, and yes the flower wanted to be friendly as well, not like the original, @ delpart, thanks so much for the discussion of the depth, it is really hard to play with the light trying to achieve a good depth on the Z axis, I know what you mean I tried to use the S3D to give the rippled dunes some curvature along the Z axis an adjusting the light so you can feel like they are going downward to the horizon but I really didn't succeed with that. @ Leif, thanks for the nice comment, I really appreciate your understanding. @ Helen, thanks so much, we used to have a lot of those kind of natural flower, and my sister and me we used to blow their seeds up in the air because they have something on top like white hair, then when they fly high in the sky we make a wish hoping to came true, and I remember one of the wishes was to see the sand dunes of the desert..! kids lol you know, cartoon shows, makes them love everything. @ blackpenny, thanks , the flower actually is very close.

Have I not commented on this truly awesome my friend. Perfect in every way. The highlight of the piece for me is the shadows of the rocks (oxymoron ?) Although that sand is pretty special ... love it mate.

Oh deary me I too somehow "missed" the desert scene. It's so realistic-looking and I thought it was a picture. The dunes are so undulating and the flower fits perfectly. Love it

Always pushing the boundaries of pdn, the spiked ball and fonograph are fantastic; when I was looking at the desert scene I could not help but think just having the rocks would give it more visual impact, but great work as always.

Thank you very much Welshy, Pixey and AFG for the nice comments. @welshy, there is a place here in California called (Death Valley), I don't know if you heard about it before, but there, there is something strange about some rocks, they move and change their location leaving grooves behind them but no one till now see them moving nor solved this mystery. Maybe this inspired me also somehow to put the rocks in the sand dunes. Haven't done any Significant work with PDN lately just some doodles here and there and some photo edits, This was an old PDN file never been satisfied about it, today I revisited again and added the planets and some more changes, hope it looks OK now: The texture of the planet is a screenshot from GoogleMap somewhere in Canada and rendered with S3D:

I like it! The centre really draws me in. Love the sparkly stars too.
I have to Google Death Valley now. I'd heard of it but not the moving stones. I'll be right back...well, that is interesting. I was thinking magnetic fields but I was wrong.

You say whaaaaat? How amazing is this?! I especially like how the background really gives the image depth as if I'm part of this space scene. I had several projects I wasn't happy with, but I hate revisiting old work. However, I'm glad you posted this up because it's a beauty.

You say whaaaaat? quote] That says it all for me. As an ignoramus to every thing out there in 'Space' I love the colours and depth. Most of all I love enjoying another slice of your mind

Every time I see a space scene like this I think " I will do one" I then try and never manage to achieve the sense of believability and harmony both yourself and Goonfella achieve. I always love a space scene that has blues in it, blue always seems to add extra depth to the scene.

beautiful space art Sargon. I thought it was so simple until I tried one on my own and mine just look like a little kid's drawing LOL Glad you shared with us. Totally different from what you usually post but just as great

I like it! I've tried space scenes too, and my attempts are pitiful. I've heard about the moving rocks before, it's interesting.
