Eeek, I hope I didn't sound as being dismissive of the root causes of true phobias ... Merely the simple correlative of common deep seated aversions and near phobic reactions seen in people to some of the more common threats from the world we live in. Like enclosed spaces: bears, tigers, rockfalls, bad air, etc ... This subject is a touchy one. Like my arachnophobia. I had it before the dozen plus Black Widow bites and other spider induced re-enforcements over time. Thanks to some cognitive behavior pushes I've done I'm not as likely to jump off a cliff as much lately, but if I'm not expecting it, move out of the way from my flight response for sure. And it boggles my logical mind how my phobia works and how it causes enough adrenaline to make me be able to literally go through a brick wall ... Nothing early on caused the trauma that I or my helpers can determine. And the bites make me pretty much kill anything that looks like an arachnid without concern over the usefulness as a pest control, nature balance etc. Just makes me feel better. ;D Awesome pottery ... still my dream to move back to somewhere I can have my own kiln eventually. My current go-to potter for quality that shows up around these parts (I tend to be rather promiscuous with potters, but I like her work and the person): Little E PotteryArgh, I'm rambling again ...

Arachnophobia is valid! Mind you I can be selectively so. Good to know the behavioural therapy does work. What I find intriguing is aversion therapy. Quite often it works by itself without any conscious input which now puts me in the train of thought about genes v's environment. Delpart, you are a bad influence ;D
Great pottery - never thought about jewellry uses for it. Thanks for sharing the link.

Lovely photos! How green it is there. Wonderful things can happen when you take a different turn. I love the road image as it curves into the unknown. Thanks for sharing!

Nice pictures. I particularly like the first one with the scenery of the boats in the harbor. Great composition. Makes me long for summer. Ehh? Is that you holding that little crocodile? Are you sure it wont crawl back and bite your toe in revenge? ;D

I really like these photos. We had a guy come to college with baby alligators and we could hold them. They were so cute!

Yes, Leif that is a 3 year old male Australian Saltwater crocodile. His name I think was Harley or it could have been his brother Davidson. He was so soft! Like a baby's skin. They did a lot to educate people on how to recognise croc territory & how to keep safe.
Thanks Leif, the comment on the composition means a great deal to me as I usually take the most awful photos but I am trying very hard to learn about things like that.
I love reptile too Helen. Alligators are a bit different & I'd love to hold one of those too. I think they are cuter than crocs.

Great photos! It's so cool getting to hold a crocodile. I held a snake once at a friend's place. The snakes didn't bother me, but when they asked if I wanted my picture taken I said no way!

I love snakes too. I know how you feel about the getting your picture taken. I feel the same. Since this was a holiday that was long overdue may never happen again in a hurry, I thought it was best to let them take photos.

Just love all the pictures Barbie. You and hubby make a lovely couple and you are very brave lady to hold that croc! Love the birdies as well and, actually, the boat & water scenery looks a bit like here in Florida. You look like you had a great holiday

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt ... 30 years ago! ;D (Well, it was a Denmark flag t-shirt.) Yours is a way better pic than I have - 'cause they didn't have digital cameras back then - but I have picture of a guy getting arrested.

He, he. I think the police was rather different 30 years ago. But they still arrest people. ;D

Great pictures, Leif! I like the buildings. They have so much more character than new ones. Who's the goofy-looking guy in the first one?

Lief! I'm excited. All very beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing. Heh. Things have changed since i took those photos. At lest the last two. The trees has been taken down as they were old and treadend to fall if a storm hit. Fortunately they have already planted new. Find my small photo manipulation. Tip: This is a cemetery.
