After what happened at the last forum I don`t think it would be a good idea to let Guests post. If they want to post here they should have to sign up first like on the main forum. I know signing up did not prevent the last forum from being spammed but personally I would feel happier with it like that.

I think that's a good idea, not to allow guests to post.
We have lots of snow here, and we've been told not to go anywhere because the roads are so bad, so I'm having a wonderful time going through everyone's galleries.
Good to see you, j.d!

I don't know if this is possible in this forum; but some places guest posts have to be approved by a mod before they are actually shown in the forum.

Odd, I could have swore that Guest posting wasn't enabled. I'll take a look at it. Thanks for letting me know.
Edit: I just enabled that Guest must either login or register to gain access to the forum. So let see if that did the trick.

To be honest I don't like this option ... and it could deter new genuine people away

I am afraid that Lance is right. If guests can just post at will we may very well get spamers. But it would be good if guests could make posts after being approved by staff.

To be honest I don't like this option ... and it could deter new genuine people away I know...I thought that Pro Board would allow the Guest to see, but not post unless they either registered or log in. I'll check and see if there's a hack or a script I could add to that. @sargon III, I misunderstood your earlier post about the user name. I think that Pro Board requires all username to be lower case without any captialization or space. I remember that was a big problem with my user name at Fanatics, and drakaan was the one that fixed it by removing the space. That's why I said to go to Modify Profile and enter the appearance of the user name under Display User name.

Sure, mate, I could use your help. I think the spammer wouldn't be able to get past the registration process because of the visual catchpa thingie. If spammer starts coming, then we'll add that code.

I noticed that when I go to the help forum it displays across the full screen . Is there a way to do the same here ? I know blackpenny suggested using the No Squint add-on in FF but that just magnifies the page. I would like to see a proper full screen display. I have the page maximized on the laptop but there is still a large space either side going unused. It would mean more room for images.

Hi Ella! Good to see you here. I wasn't at the old forum as long as most of the others, but it was like home. Goonie, I started using No-Squint because I had eye problems and felt better with things magnified. I'm so used to it I don't know what a "proper full screen display" looks like.

I like Leif's idea of a moderator approving a guest post before it's shown on the forum.

Guests won't be able to because the forum is set to allow them to view the boards, but they'll have to log-in or register to make post, thread, and what's nots. I have thought about enabling post registration where a mod or admin can see a new post by a newly registered member before it became public. The hold back is the potential of turning away new members if there was a delay in approving their post. I think it'll be tough for a spam-bot to get past the registration process, but it wouldn't stop a user to register and post a spam. The best action would be to report the post and duck so the banhammer won't accidentally whack you guys.

Awesome, Sid. I was beginning to think you wouldn't come.
Has anybody been able to get ahold of Possum Roadkill and theonlychad? Or what about AFG?

Pixey too. I think she's away on a cruise or something.
Is it worth putting an announcement at the old board, just in case some legitimate new members come along? Or old members who don't know what's been going on?
Hey Sid - good to see you here!

Looks like someone made a bit of "housecleaning" on the old forum. No spam today. But i say we stay here. Spamers may just be lurking. Saw Possum Roadkill was on toady, so announcement or PM's would be a good idea.
