Jack of all trades - Bruce Springsteen.
I'll mow your lawn, clean the leaves out your drain I'll mend your roof to keep out the rain I'll take the work that God provides I'm a Jack of all trades, honey, we'll be alright
I'll hammer the nails, and I'll set the stone I'll harvest your crops when they're ripe and grown I'll pull that engine apart and patch her up 'til she's running right I'm a Jack of all trades, we'll be alright
A hurricane blows, brings a hard rain When the blue sky breaks, feels like the world's gonna change We'll start caring for each other like Jesus said that we might I'm a Jack of all trades, we'll be alright
The banker man grows fatter, the working man grows thin It's all happened before and it'll happen again It'll happen again, they'll bet your life I'm a Jack of all trades and, darling, we'll be alright
Now sometimes tomorrow comes soaked in treasure and blood Here we stood the drought, now we'll stand the flood There's a new world coming, I can see the light I'm a Jack of all trades, we'll be alright
So you use what you've got, and you learn to make do You take the old, you make it new If I had me a gun, I'd find the bastards and shoot 'em on sight I'm a Jack of all trades, we'll be alright I'm a Jack of all trades, we'll be alright

Today I am listening to Jonathan Coulton. His songs are fantastical, often satirical, and occasionally coarse. Some of my favorites are: I Crush Everything; Re: Your Brains; The Future Soon; Code Monkey. Here is a link to one of the more silly songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu71EAdnjQ0 You can listen to all his songs in their entirety at his website.

I have to say I wouldn't have pegged you for appreciating that artist. Of course with only a handful of posts I really cant be saying that even ...
Uhg that sounds contrite ... Anyways, RE: Your Brains is one of my all time favorites.
In that theme ...
Dr. Demento's show used to be a breathe of imagination for me. Where I lived at the time I had to hope the atmosphere would be just right so I'd get the bounce from San Diego over the mountains to me. About 180-190 miles away. Real scratchy but it was always worth it.
I needed something different. Having that usual heartache problem where every TV show or song is about death ... I call it Blue Car syndrome. (It has a real psychological name, but I like my twist on it.)
To explain Blue Car Syndrome: You clue in on a car you are looking at buying or have finally taken a fancy to. The color of choice is Blue. The blue is usually distinct to that manufacturer. Every time you go out while this is recent in your musings or consideration, you notice this Blue Car is everywhere. More of them than you ever noticed before.
I like to force this on people with things like micro-wildflowers and other things. I make them (yes, its evil, but in a good way) to focus on the critters and play up how wonderful and populace they are. Next thing you know they finally stop and "smell the roses" a little more and stop ignoring that aspect of the world around them. Admittedly this seems silly. But I'm thankful for the positive pushes from others in the same way to make me focus in on things start to blur into the background that are what make our lives so rich.
This same thing sort of applies to the imagination of forced suggestion when telling someone not to think of an abstract image ... like a Blue Elephant. Go ahead. If you bothered to read this far, can you honestly say you didn't even just now get a small impression of a Blue Elephant in your mind? ;D
A song from the other day.
Flogging Molly's: If I Ever Leave This World Alive
Dr. Who video version is a little odd and I probably shouldn't have just watched that ... but there are so many covers, etc this is more or less non-live, clean audio ...

^ ^ ^ <<<< I enjoyed that. I love discovering new sounds through other people:) A change to how you can link to YouTube I've put in a hack where you paste the link and it automatically changes it to a thumbnail www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_7u3nhANa4... the look on my daughters face when she walked in with a friend was priceless ,when she saw me and my wife doing the TimeWarp earlier ;D ;D

Thank you, WelshBlue for the video thumbnail hack. It adds a lot! And, of course, I absolutely enjoyed Time Warp. So many good songs on that soundtrack.
delpart, I definitely approve of the Dr. Who video with the Flogging Molly song. Been a Who fan since I first discovered it on PBS in the 70s.
Glad y'all enjoyed the Jonathan Coulton. It was really difficult to pick out one video. I Crush Everything is perhaps my favorite song, but the computer animation of the Mr. Fancy Pants video was so well done and visually entertaining that I chose it.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1HqFwSss7oI challenge anyone who appreciates good music to put on headphones and fail to be moved by the tones and passion ... ... in shame after a few of us got arrested last night after some reported us. Too much beer and high spirits after a lock in; ending in the obligatory patriotic songs. Walking home we thought it was a good idea to stop outside every house displaying the English St Georges flag in readiness for the 2012 European Football Championship ... and give a rendition of Still HereThey tried the Racism and Affray route but some of us pointed out we have English family ( my mother was) so we were charged with Drunk & Disorderly. A caution and a £80 fine. I haven't been inside a police station or cell in 22 years ... wow they've changed. A lot brighter An oxymoron in that I regret it but will look back and laugh

I never listen to the radio anymore- too many commercials. When I want to sample new music I log into Pandora. The free version has some commercials, but they are few and short. I'm guessing you don't like rap; you didn't finish your thought. I don't like rap. But, you made me think of Easier To Run by Linkin Park. There is rap in the chorus, but there is plenty of rock surrounding it. I could not get a video window to show up here, so obviously I've forgotten how to do that. If you want to listen to it click on the link below. YouTube video
