I was browsing and stumbled on this website that may interest some of you. www.colourlovers.com/I found you can download color palettes for references of how colors go together. I've been saving my favorite ones and then using color picker to get the color instead of having to insert the RGB or Hex numbers in the little boxes. Of course, if I find myself using the same ones regularly, I can make my own palette up in the colors box. here's an example of one of them. There are also patterns and pattern templates and other fun things. I'm still exploring the site but thought I'd share it here. Hope this is useful for some of you.

I was plying with the colors in the site, and created a palette, it is a long story to save it, and you have to be logged in, nice website BTW. Do you use the color picker so often in PDN? I can't remember when was last time I d used it, wow everyone has a different way in painting.

sometimes there are colors i just love and to get them i open the pic in paintdotnet as another file, use the color picker, then go back to the piece I"m working on. It's faster for me than trying to find the hex numbers and plug them in. LOL Doesn't everyone do that? Or am I doing it the hard way?

If it's just you ... then it's both of us I find this a useful site. I've got different palettes for different textures by using it: www.degraeve.com/color-palette/

You can create custom palette file. Simply open Notepad, enter the hexadecimal number on a single line, and save it as a plain text file. Save it in the Palettes folder under My Documents>Paint.NET User Files>Palettes When you want to use it, click on an icon in the Color Palette window, it looks like the color wheel/folder with a plus sign. Click on the drop-down arrow, and click on the link that says "Open Palettes Folder." I once asked David Atwell at the main board how to use a certain web site and copy the info to make my own color scheme. @welshy, you could create your own color palette using this plugin from the main board. Another plug-in that could be useful is this.

Thanks for the links Lance. I added them to my effects folder so hopefully they are in the right place LOL
as for the palettes, I actually figured those out, the ones I'm getting from the color sites are giving me the actual colors and what some of the complimentary colors might be. I don't have any color charts to know any hex numbers at all, so it's kind of difficult to make a palette without that.
I ended up getting more good information than I was sharing LOL Thanks all!
