Whoo boy! That's smashing! Appropriate watery background--the main piece is amazing.

I think the scene could use a bit of lighting to add to the mood, antiquity, and make the texture pop a bit.

I like bot of them Barbie, both are great, Love texture of page1 and prefer the light of the newer version, the text is amazing.
Feedback: -I am just confused, nuts are oct. or hex. "googled, actually there are some with 8 sides" -For more realistic effect, try to make the inner ring of the nuts as circle instead of octagon.

Lance, where should I put the lighting? That part I will have to think some more on but that is what I was thinking too. There needs to be some light bouncing off it somewhere but I think it needs to be subtle.
Thanks Ella...I still cannot decide which one. Maybe I will do both.
Sargon, yep, you are right about the number of sides & they should be round in the centre. I'll have to take a closer look at the original. I was really tired when I started this piece. I need to spend some time looking at the original to see what is really there & what is not.
After my first couple of days back at work at the jail, I feel very, very tired & my emotions are mixed. All of the staff are very supportive & the inmates are glad to have me back, although some are quite wary still. Lunch was lasagna today & my other fave bangers, mash with lots of gravy & a freshly baked white bread roll yesterday!
Thanks for the feedback so far - Thinking about some running rust like the photo but not to sure how to achieve the effect. Paint runs & then concrete tute & blur?

I'm out voted again but I prefer the New Connection over the 1st one you posted, which was the 2nd one ... Not sure why ... maybe because it looks more 'complete' Nautilus is looking really cool ... I had a lil' play around and a concrete layer set to Overlay, then some Jitter gives an interesting look Edit* ... For the 1st time ever I just played around with the Dissolve plug-in, choosing a concrete layer then playing with the settings gives great results. A technique I'm going to explore further ...

I like the brighter version better. Great job so far! I think you could maybe add more textures?

Goonie, page 1 is the concrete texture overlay to give it a rusty/old look but the one in the thread just above is the satin look. Not sure which one I should go with. Guess I should have posted them side by side. Not sure which one you mean? The one in the post above? Manc, WIP is Work in Progress. Thanks Barbie.Feel bloody stupid now, thought WIP a was new software or plugin lol.

Have to agree with Heat Stroke. The light one is best. Suggestion: try putting a few light round lines around some of the nuts making it look like scratches from the tool fastening them.

Unfurled is gorgeous - the colour of the blue and the texture of the gold are very nice.
I like the blue in New Connections too.
I'm looking forward to see what happens with Nautilus. I like both - the aged look of the first one, and the bright shiny look of the second. They could be before and after, one brand new and the other after it's been around a while.

Thanks BP.
The WIP is now a collab. We are in the final stages of tweaking. I know I am being quite secretive...

I'm sorry to ask you (if you've already mentioned), but who is the collab with? Is that a secret? I also prefer the lighter version, but both very cool. The letters look genuine. Nice.

Yes, Helen, a little mystery. Think of what the image is made of & that will probably give you a big clue. I know you like little mysteries

Wow! Wow! Wow! It looks so real! This is beyond remarkable. By the way, my guess was correct that you worked with Welshblue on this one. Great job, both of you!
