That may be helpful. I think I'm getting closer to actually wanting tools like this. I've used the make palette from image plugin a couple of times but there have been others where hitting a flash site this would have been useful versus making a screen shot etc.
Especially after looking at some of the fractal programs and wanting to do some palette work, this will definitely help there. I'm not as good with color wheels and gradient wheel making as I'd like yet.
I like this aspects of it:
"Ever tried using a color picker on a high resolution monitor? It's impossible. That's why this color picker has a magnifier attached. Grab palettes of up to 16 colors at once and use four advanced color mixers to select a spectrum of possibilities. "
"Point sample, 3x3 or 5x5 pixel color sampling"
And the various data points like hex and websafe color matches.
Thanks for the linkage.

My understanding of what this software does as oppose to just using PDN on its own is on dial-up lol. For example, can someone please explain (for super dummies) this quote: "Ever tried using a color picker on a high resolution monitor? It's impossible. That's why this color picker has a magnifier attached. Grab palettes of up to 16 colors at once and use four advanced color mixers to select a spectrum of possibilities. " Why is it impossible to use a color picker on a high resolution monitor? I mean, it looks like a handy little software that I wouldn't mind using myself, but I just want to understand what that quote meant and what this can do that PDN alone can't. Appreciate any help. Edit: Forgot to ask, has anyone downloaded and used this on a Windows 7 64 bit OS? If so, have you had any issues while using this software? I've checked their support forums and someone has asked about this as well, but no assuring reply. Thanks again.

The zoom feature is what they are getting on about there.
Like many of their tools, its more aimed at non graphics application users (web developers) ...
So assuming you would be trying to capture say just a 2 pixel halo color on something, being able to zoom in would allow you to more easily discern all the colors of the halo, and choose it selectively.
For a pdn user working from a screen capture especially this wouldn't be much help. Unless you ran into something that couldn't be captured like that. (Workarounds about for flash for instance, but if something makes for a few less steps ...)
Again this is still more geared to a different age in many ways. There are similar color picker add-ons for Firefox now as well as similar tools like the measuring ones etc. But like with art, each person has their own take on it and their own preferred toolset.
No rival to PDN really. Just different.

Chito - Yes, I'm using 64bit Win 7 and I've not encountered any problems with this colour picker software. It's extremely precise and I prefer it to the colour picker in PDN, as it brings up the colour in the exact 'transparency' range of the colour from the picture/photo you are looking at, which PDN does not do.

You are welcome Chito @bbq - So sorry ...... 'twas my attempt at being 'funny', hope you were not offended ...... it was the Oz accent in the Youtube clip which tickled the 'rellie' humour in me (rellie = relative) ;D

Now I need to play with it some more I think. I didn't notice that straight off when I tried it. That is helpful.
