After being frustrated by the inability to use thumbnail which are automatically generated from other hosting sites, some reading (thank you, O Wonderful, Wise, and All-Knowing Google), brushing up on how to use BBCode, I think I finally got it.
Unfortunately, it requires writing the code manually as there's no script to do it automatically. *insert sobbing face*
But! I am here to save the day! *crowd cheers wildly*
Seriously though.
To do so, go to your account at Imgur, and click on "Direct Link." It will automatically copy the URL code to your clipboard.
Now, in order for this to work, you need to know how to fool the forum into resizing the image automatically without creating thumbnail image and uploading it to the hosting site.
From Imgur's website:
(Sidebar: seriously, a huge thumbnail? That kind of defeat the point, eh?)
Here's how to get this to work. First, in BBCode tab on the bottom of the "Create Post" or "Create Thread", you will have to manually enter:
Did you notice the "m" just before the file extension? That's how you tell the BBCode that, "Hey, this is medium sized, so downsize this, you fool!" (If the forum coding interacted this way, I would be a retired comedian).
BUT! We are not done yet. To get the "thumbnail" clickable, we have to create the hyperlink. So...
Note: These link don't work, they are merely example. Anyway, you notice that I simply point to the "regular sized" image in the code for linking? That's pretty much all you gotta do. Until some bloody fool come up with a script to cut this out, this is the way to do it. Unfortunately.
If this doesn't make sense, feel free to shout profanity at me. I AM A MAN AND I'M OVER 30! COME AT ME!
