Thanks Barbieq. These tutorials are so great because every time I do one I learn something new. For example in this one of Ella's, I didn't know you could use trail like that to fill a page. And I remember in your jewel tute, I learned how to use the Shape 3D in a different way. And the list goes on .......... So I'm always so grateful to the people who take the time to put these lessons down on (paper) text ;D

I appreciate tutes too for the same reason plus I know how time consuming they are.

Yeah, there's always something new to learn. And time consuming - no kidding! Especially when you have no idea what you're doing in the first place. Both of yours look really cool Pixey! ;D

This is a really beautiful texture. I could see using this inside a room as maybe a curtain or wall hanging for a still life painting.

Is there a tute on making the starting folded fabric used at the start of this tute? I read Ella's tute on wrinkled fabric, but a tute specifically for making the folded fabric used here would be great.

Thanks Ella for the tute on making the folded fabric. Now I'm having trouble making the two layers with details. Basically I copied and pasted the Shape 3d rendered circular detail into new layers, used Mirror and Layer Rotate and Zoom and merged all without much success. I ended up with asymmetrical arrays. And I don't know how I would duplicate the merged two layers (even if they were symmetrical) to create the final pattern. I've attached a screen shot to show you results I've gotten. I know there's got to be a better way of reproducing the detail than my method.

You are on a right way there . Notice I cropped my detail and resized it to 128x128 as I was planning later to work on 512x512 size image and that is 1/4 of it. The reason for this was to make placing the details easier. That way I know I can place 4 details next to each other starting from border and there will be no gaps. When you have your first layer done with the full details duplicate it and then move it to the left a bit until the border detail is in the middle then you can mirror it to other side too. Hope that makes some sense .

Well, I got it done. I was fumbling around trying to get the details perfect, but was never quite able to. My first attempt came out better than my second. I tried moving each duplicated layer under its original. I don't think that did much good. How did I get that seam in the middle of the center shell? How can I avoid it? Fourth attempt: (No seam here. In the end, it was the Trail I wasn't getting.)

Blanco, have you tried Panelling? To move the seashell, rectangle select carefully, and then run Effect>Distort>Panelling, and move it along the X axis.
See if that'll work for you.

I did try the panelling plugin. I had to import the seashell each time I used it, though. I wasn't sure how it worked. I used 128 for the Move Horizontal and 1,2, and three for steps. I was hoping it would add a fifth shell, but it didn't move the shell past the 512 width border.
