Son of manc. 2.!, I just noticed the highlight on those two men, really well done, I know you meant to do that, it didn't come just like accidentally, great job mate.

Thanks Sargon, glad you like it. It's still a work in progress,I know exactly what I'm gonna do in the final version,so not posting any more till it's finished. Highlight's not a fluke.

Both versions of the window are really cool mate. I really like how you've done the frame, a great uPVC look to them. I agree with (I think it was ) BarbieQ' about adding a bit of brickwork. But that's your choice as the artsist

Thanks Welshy, nice to hear from the master.Yeah,I am gonna add some stone or brickwork, not sure yet. Gonna fade the images a bit, make it more realistic, add some shadow. Bloody amazing really, started out doing an abstract. When I stopped art I started painting and decorating, I doubled my wages over night. Making window's and door's are easy,I painted enough of them.

I didn't know you were a painter. I did my apprenticeship too. I hate painting but working with my youngest my brother is very enjoyable, esp when we hang paper. I rather prefer the preparation work. My daughter is 4th generation & my other brother is a painter too.

We are all decorators. My dad was a painter, three brothers, even my sister married a painter.I much prefer painting exteriors,do doors like like glass. .Even though I'm expert at paperhanging,I can't stand it,don't know why, think it's a pain in the a--e.

I've done the wall paper hanging bit, and the painting, and every time I've thought to myself that I take my hat off to those who do it for a living, as it's jolly well so darn tiring and bally hard work

I hadn't done it in many years & my poor old body got a shock, threatening to kill me A case of use it or lose it. So it runs in the blood, Manc. I married a signwriter second time round, which is what I wanted to do when I left school.

I like the single reflection, but I like the way the window looks in the second one. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. My husband and I wallpapered a room together, and lived to talk about it. It was a pain in the rear, but we had a lot of laughs.

Those images you tackled, Manc, are really tough to do. I think you did an outstanding job of tackling the reflection, the glass, and the overall mood of the image.

Thanks Pixey and BP,glad we agree that papering is a pain. Barbie,I always fancied sign-writing but don't think my hand was steady enough. I did three years as a mural artist working for an art studio. We also did photography and oil painting, but mostly murals. Was lucky enough to work for Dave Vaughan,he's the geezer who painted Lennon's Roll Royce in the sixties,I learnt a lot from him. Great Job,but very poor wages.Hence I went back to decorating when I married. Thanks for your comments Lance,I'm hoping to finish pic in the next day or two.

Manc much of the signwriting these days is done on a pc with vinyl - kinda like the contact that people use to cover the insides of drawers, books etc. Very little is done by hand. There are so many 3D substrates nowadays too. Acrylic sheets, alupanel which is super light aluminium sandwiched between a rubbery foam. I loved the work but not the worry You have had a most interesting life! I would imagine that murals are harder than signs.

Yeah Barbie,I know about the vinyl and stuff. I got a van signed a few years back and watched the bloke doing it. He did the design on a computer then a machine cut the vinyl. I used to know a sign-writer in the 70's who did it freehand, pretty amazing stuff. I think it is much harder than Murals. I was very lucky working at the studio, great job to have when you start at nineteen. But when you're twenty two, your wages are still low and your younger brothers are now earning twice as much. I thought it was time for a change, and go back to decorating.

True...we sometimes have to make tough decisions & unfortunately money is one of the over-riding factors.

Pic is finished now, getting sick of it tbh. Thanks to you all for your help and suggestions. Thanks to Yellowmans tute on the main board for the bricks. I didn't follow it but it pointed me in the right direction and I learned about the Brick plugin. I changed one of the images,RIP Neil Young. I also updated the first one.

tbh? to the bloody hilt?
Always happy to help out. The first one looks good with the split window & bricks (beautiful bricks too!). Each one is really good. The have such an eerie, emotional atmosphere. The first & last one I think are my faves.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
