Thanks so much Barbieq, Blackpenny and Welshy for your kind words. Herewith 1st attempt on new computer with Windows 7. However, when it came to upload to Photobucket ....... I could not do it. Something is wrong with IE8. So this had to be uploaded from the "old" computer until I find out what's going on. Groan - the joys of new computers

I got Google Chrome before even attempting to download anything else.
I agree with Helen, lovely line work & very pleasing shapes & colours. His eyes are fabulous! Well done, Pixey!

I guess that`s why IE is continually losing ground to the others. I tried Chrome as well for a while and got on really well with it - until it refused to update itself or be updated. So now I`m back on FF4 . Much the same as Chrome really. Superb image of the Boy with Lolly, and I think you`ve done an amazing job with the fluffy cat. Great work Pixey.

Great image, it has the look of anime work and is the first time I have seen anyone on either board trying out the style

Boy with a lolly, very nice, I like the colors and his features, agreed about the way you've drawn the lines. IE9 is totally different, I think I like it, and last update of FireFox is different as well, very fast on my machine, both of them.

Wow! Superb work Pixey. I think it looks so realistic and being in B&W just seems to make it look even better. Well done .

Very nicely done, I have just had a look through her tuts and although like most they are meant for use with a Tablet, her approach is more achievable with a mouse.
Only thing I would mention is if you look at the left hand side of the eye the graduation in value of the eye ball is perfect and gives it the look of roundness, where as if you look at the shadow of the eye socket/ lid in that corner it makes the eye appear in front of the shadow (like there is a hole there), adjusting the values slightly so it goes from dark to light at the bottom edge will give it the look of a contour and bring it in front of the eye again, I hope that makes sense.

@goonfellow - thanks so much AFG - yes, I really should have noticed that and thanks for the tip. Does this look better perhaps? Eye modified

The eye looks so real it kept winking at me. Enough said.

Yes, great job on that, it can often help when doing this type of image to try and visualize it from a side view as well, sometimes it is the shading/value around an area that helps achieve the look we are after.

Totally amazing! Comparing it with your other eye (in colour) the B/W makes it look so much more real. Nice one.

Amazing amount of details in the eye. Good patterns in the iris. Impressing, and i know how hard it is to make eyelashes.
