No matter what, there's always going to be some one like that. Surprising how they never last long ...
My rant football officials, who aren't as impartial as they should be. The refereee in my son's youth team semi-final was a joke. One of their players stamps on a players arm and breaks it ... gets a yellow card. Our captain gets sent off for remonstrating about it, 2 off-side goals given ... another player gets sent off for remonstrating ... then my son gets taken out in a two footed challenge which should be a straight red - guess who gets sent off because he got up and swore at the offending player ?
A joke. He got paid good money to spoil what was an even game before his atrocious decisions

Has the guy got a glass eye?! That sort of things spoils it for kids. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth & your too I'm sure. I'd say he probably got paid more than anyone really knows. But that is just cynical & jaded ol' me

That`s disgraceful Welshy. The guy should never be aloud to referee a match again, although I`m sure he will unfortunately.

Well, I just about had a heart attack. I heard in the news that a local couple was killed in Mexico, and the name is very similar to a friend's. After looking it up, I know it's not her, and I'm glad she's okay, but it's still sad.
That really freaked me out, though. I think my heart has started beating again.

That must have really given you a fright. It is sad for the other couple but glad your friend is ok.

I can imagine how much of a fright that was for you B'Penny. Glad they're ok, but like you say, sad for somebody.
My aunt was diagnosed with liver cancer last year then on the day she was being moved to another hospital for an operation she was told she was OK, they'd mixed the scans up with someone elses. Everyone felt elated for her, but couldn't help wondering about the other poor soul who'd gone through the stresses of waiting for the all clear, only to have that snatched from them. Utter heart-break i should imagine.
My experience is always the opposite. The other week I was driving up the street and I saw a man I could swear, someone told me they'd died a few years ago. I very nearly drove into the car in front I was too busy looking at them. Don't think it would have been much of a mitigating circumstance in court if I'd rear ended the car in front ;D

Welshy, your story reminded me of my at-fault accident I committed 10 years ago.
I saw a bank in a trailer (a trailer!) and I was so distracted by it I rear-ended a car in front of me, and it collided into the next car, and the next car. I was an emotional wreck that day. To this day, it still makes me cringe when the memory floods back. I have had a lot of close calls, but it always come down to being alert.

" Lance. There is one very important message here. You have learned from that accident. The people i fear most in traffic; is the people who is making the same dangerous situation again and again. Some people drive to fast each day. And they never learn. My rant: Some of you have noticed i have posted a few cat pictures on DA. They are not my cats. They are my sisters. And, actually they are not my sisters. She never bought them. They are the kind of cats that just comes walking by, and say: This is a nice place; i stay here. ;D But they are cute cats. Some don't like strangers. And some are so domesticate, they very rarely leave the house.

So my friend is not the woman in the news story, but it turns out my husband knew the man, but not really well. He was in the same line of work and they had met once or twice. That's just a little too close for comfort. Welshy, your story reminds me of funny accident insurance claims.

BP, some of these are really so funny! Hubby drove me to an appointment. On the way back, in the middle of traffic he braked & swerved the car a bit. A spider ran over him. Apparently it was a large one. As he stopped at the traffic lights, I saw the culprit on the back of his shirt collar. Now I am seriously arachnophobic but a quick hard flick got the sucker. I am also hard of hearing but I heard it go splat on the other side of the car. I love my hubby & my car & the spider posed a serious threat to both, not to mention myself!
Welshy, that is terrible. I've heard of mix-ups. I am glad your aunt is ok but it would be hard for the other person too. So much heartache in life.
Lance, how awful for you. I am the worst reverser ever. Why I have a reverse gear is beyond me. It should be disabled. I park so that I never have to reverse out, even if I have to walk further & I hate walking. Ok, so I am not really that bad but it is true about the parking. One day I decided the reverse back instead of doing a 10 point turn - it was tight. I looked, all clear & gave it a bit more of a bootful than usual, feeling brave, I looked to the front to make sure I was tracking straight when I heard that horrible sound.
Apparently the other driver, yes a woman, reversed out & seeing it was all clear did the same. Man, did it stove the side of her car in! I felt really bad. Mine had a crease in the paint on the bumper.
All helps to reaffirm that I should not reverse.
Leif, cats are like that. We had a white one who decided to live with us. One day another dog had a go at her over a bone & the white cat launched it self a good 6 feet through the air from the back landing, racking his claws along the side of the culprit & then as the dog was back-peddling, gave it some nice red stripes for its face. Never seen the likes of it. Later he decided to live with the people across the road.
Your sister must be a special kind of person if cats just come & live with her. I don't think we will ever have one again after we lost our kitten.
Mini rant: RattyTui, the first ratty bit my husband for apparently no reason while on the floor. Sister-in-law wanted to pet one through the cage & it had a fair dinkum go at her too. They have never bitten me even when I cut their nails & bath them which they hate with a passion. Mind you my daughter said the same thing but I thought she was exaggerating. When I stick my fingers through the bars, they grab it with both paws & try to drag it in & give me nibbles & licks, like a dog. I really didn't think ratties would be so one-person!

This is more of a thought rather than a rant. I was thinking. You see how we have the avatars and right underneath it says either Administrator, Apprentice, etc. Beneath mine it says, "Journeyman." Shouldn't it say, "Journeywoman" instead?

This is hubby's rant. He needed gas this morning, and because Mubarak had said he wasn't stepping down, gas prices went up. A couple of hours later, he did step down and prices were back down again. So hubby figures Egypt owes him $5.00. Would that be considered a 'frivolous' law suit?

Helen, we have mentioned the "journeyman" a few times. I am one too but I preferred being a wizard - also male!
BP - that is quite funny...it'd be quite a can of worms since it wasn't so Egypt that put the prices up. That is one of the things that really annoys me. Oil prices go up & so does the fuel but the fuel in the holding tanks wasn't actually bought at that price since it is old stock. We saw that here in the floods too where a loaf of bread was suddenly $5.00 - double of what it normally costs. Lettuce is now at least $3.00 more, chocolate bars went up by $1.00. Some people will use anything to increase their profit.
I bought a Dragon Tree for $28.00 at Bunnings - a big hardware chain spruiking lower prices or we'll beat it by 10%. Fine print says advertised prices! So that when Woolworths sells me the same plant for $12.00 I cannot take the plant & receipt to them & say ok, sell me one for $10.80 because it wasn't advertised.
So now when the checkout operator makes an error in my favour, I say nothing.

Helen, I am basing the ranking on an old art guild system used during the Renaissance, and it is still used today in a lot of apprenticeship field. blackpenny and Barbieq25, like I have said before, oil price are driven by Wall Street's speculation. Today, I read that Wall Street actually posted gains today because Murbank stepped down. My biggest fear is we may see a mini-arms race in the Middle East. That's if rumor that Iran is actually seeking nuclear arms, and then we'll see Egypt and Saudi Arabia jumping into the fray. It's the worse case scenarios for all of us, and could potentially destabilize the entire region, and pull the world in a nuclear war that will forever scar the face of the earth.

That outrageous! Just imagine what you could have done with that $5.00. A Big Mac with fries and a large coke maybe! ;D
Funnily enough the price never changed here. At the garage where I fill up it remained at 99.9p/litre - which is cheap these days. The average price in Jersey is more like £1.10/litre so at the moment he is the cheapest on the island - but he`s also now the busiest.
Sounds like blatant profiteering by the garage over there blackpenny.

That is exactly what you can buy for $5.00 here. Every time we go to Maccas we get smaller & smaller burgers with less & less on.
Yes, Lance I do recall you telling us that. It is profiteering. Here Tuesdays are the cheapest days to buy fuel & Friday/Saturday the dearest. Servo I go to doesn't change.
