I have finally finished my kitchen. Everything here was made in Blender apart from the label on the bottle which I made in PDN. It took some time but it was excellent modeling practice.

Indeed Goonie, it is excellent, wow it has a photo realistic effect, the light from the window is just amazing and how it is casting shadows on the ceiling and the countertop, the reflection on the floor is awesome, you didn't forget even the power outlet , some highlight on the bottle from the window side would make it even more glassy even if the angle to the window won't cast a reflection, but it is fine to me just like that, I like the whole design especially the wide space of walking area which I think it is too important, but most people don't care about that. I thought one thing is missing, but then realized it is hidden above the cabinets . Great stuff goonie. I have downloaded Blender but haven't installed it yet, may be on the weekend I'll have some play with it.

Thanks Sargon. The new Cycles rendering engine has made such a difference . That`s the reason the shadows/reflections look so good. I think you will enjoy Blender. It has come on enormously since the old 2.49 version, which had the crap UI. Now it`s much easier to use and has a far more accurate rendering engine so there is no real need to use a different one now. I look forward to seeing how you get on. By the way you should try downloading the zip file version of Blender rather than use the installer. You still get all the functions without the hassle of installation and when a new version comes out just delete the old file and replace it with the new. That`s what I do anyway.

Hubby just walked in & thought it was real as in photo. What a stunner! I just adore the pots on the stove with their shine & colour. So many small elements that make this an outstanding piece of realism. Love the chinaware too for its colour & sheen which are a perfect fit. Wonderful work & I can see how much thought & skill have gone into this. Well done!

Now that's a lot of surfaces. Did a couple of tests but still not familiar enough with the UI to get some real pushes done ... That and figuring out a layout that makes sense ... Flexible sometimes is evil.
The new engine certainly seems to be coming up with some good results. This is one of the better examples for sure.
The cabinets on the rear wall have the pulls in an odd placement. Especially considering the corner opening how it would have to. Really awkward. Just me. I'd have the hinges alternate or go in the opposite direction ... ;D
Practice indeed. Ton of different objects etc. How much recycling (besides the tea set obviously) from previous work is in here?
Oh and the wine glasses ... the fill line and clear rim area doesn't work to my eyes. Could be the small size or what not (something lost in compression) but the fill line is off. Staggered difference between the two would probably be a nice tweak as well.
With so many details though, you could go on forever with the realism aspects here. Smears from wiping counter surfaces showing, etc etc.
Kudos on the effort this took and the balance here.

Thanks Barbie. Hubby has got a good taste in art then! ;D Del, I agree with you about the cabinets along the top. They really need re-doing from scratch but I was so far advanced with the image when it occurred to me that I just thought `What the hell! I`ll leave it as it is.' The problem was that I started modelling them from the wrong end. I should have placed the first ones in the corner and worked out, not the other way round. As a result I had to adjust the width of the corner ones to make them fit. Also I would place the handles differently as well - more like the lower cabinets. You live and learn I guess. As far as the fill line is concerned, I did change the amount of wine in each glass (the one further away is about half full), but the lighting kind of hides it. When I first rendered them I had to check to make sure I had not made a mistake somewhere but I had not. It definitely the lighting. Maybe that`s what is putting you off as well. As far as recycling, apart from the tea set, none at all. Everything is newly off the Goony factory floor. I have all the objects saved for possible use in the future though. You are so right about additional details. I could go on adding more and more, but then it would never get finished! ;D Thanks for the critique Del. The fact that you took time to look at the image closely like that is much appreciated.

Laff away - it won`t last long! ;D Told you so! ;D ;D Now I`m laffin as we go up to third. ... but what are the realistic chances of you's winning a trophy ? Unfair question ... you've got to be in a competition to win one I'll take the FA Cup and Champions League over finishing without anything The Blender image ... fantastically constructed and rendered. Truly awesome. A few too many upper cabinets for my liking ... but I think that may be subliminal messaging on my wife's part creeping in ...

Excellent work Goonie, just wondering how W8 would be, totally different starting page as I heard, no doubt that will look awesome on your laptop.
Is that Windows logo rendered in blender? Have you checked that in it page?

A few too many upper cabinets for my liking ... but I think that may be subliminal messaging on my wife's part creeping in ... But to get into Champs lge next season you`ll have to win it - which is unlikely. You won`t finish high enough to qualify either. And if you were to ask Wenger which he would prefer - Champions League place or FA Cup you can be sure he would say Champions League every time because that`s where the money is and it`s the best way of attracting the best players. I agree about the cabinets. But changing them would have been too big a job so I just left `em. Thanks Barbie. I do enjoy realistic images. Sargon I really don`t know if the Win7 image was made in Blender or not. I just found it on Google, took a fancy to it and used it. Not keen on the Metro interface actually. It looks fine for phones and tablets and maybe even netbooks, but not laptops or desktops. But then it is early days as far as that OS is concerned. Things might be different in the final release.

I'd rather have the hope of my team winning some silverware than settling for a happy to be there 3rd - if you're lucky Anything can happen in Football mate. Saturday just gone proves that. Not the same profile in the media until they move up 2 leagues but watching my son score a screamer for his hometown as they beat the team that thrashed them 12 - 1 back in January ... becoming only the second team to beat them this season ... anything is possible

Ok, I'll have one of those for my office & one for the lounge room oh what the heck - one for the dining room too, please!
Nice work! All sparkly & shiny. Probably the candles need to be less glossy. They look like the wrapper is still in them. Are you sure this is not a photo? What talent! I know you are going to say that it is the program but it still needs input from you & I know Blender takes a bit to get used to. More than my head can cope with at the moment.
I recall the first house you did in PDN. I thought that was very good but your work with Blender is astounding!

Nope. I don't believe you did this.
Well, I do believe that you did, but it's just too incredible! Stunning work, Goon.
