That's a gorgeous chandelier - very nice! The candles are shiny, but they could be light bulbs shaped like candles. Yeah, my mind just fills in whatever it wants.

Thanks Barbie. The candles originally a matt finish but I thought they would look better if they were just a little bit glossy to reflect the surroundings more. Maybe I`ve gone and overdone it a bit. You live and learn I guess. As you know Helen I like making my images as realistic as possible. Still a long way to go though. Thanks for commenting. BP - candle lights - interesting idea. Glad you like it.

Goonie, I love candles & have a hard time going past a shop that sells that kind of stuff without getting at least one. ;D I always think that they look so lovely with their glossy wrappers on. You can get some that have a glossy outside. I've seen them in red.
Now I am wondering what part of the house you will come up with next.

Thanks Pixey & Barbie. This next one is nothing to do with houses, rooms or anything. This one is my attempt at an emerald. I plan to mount it on a ring of some sort so it can be seen as it should be. Modelling it was the easy part, it was the texturing and lighting that gave me the most problem. I tried all sorts of settings before I stumbled on the ones that gave me this result. Hope you like it. (I have posted two images. The first is how it came out in Blender and the second is after I had done a bit of fiddling in PDN and added a vignette.) Original - PDN`d -

A beautiful gem for sure! A real stunner. You are a tricky one Goonie...was expecting more from the house. Bet the setting for the ring is going to blow us away too. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Wow, Goonie the Chandelier is amazing it looks so real, if you didn't tell, I would say it is a photograph for sure, I was trying to find just a one small thing to convince me that it is not a photo but really couldn't find, then finally the chain helped me out, I am wondering why haven't you metalized that part.!
And the Emerald is excellent too, the PDN'd one Definitely had enhanced it very much, can't wait to see the ring. Great job mate.

Thanks Barbie. You never know ( I`ll never know! ;D ) what`s coming next. I found an excellent series of tuts on You Tube about how to model gems and straight away fancied having a go. Making it looking glassy and realistic was the challenge - no tut for that! Sargon you mentioned the chain with the chandelier. I did try making it shiny and metallic but we sell them at work sometimes and from my experience the chain has always been left a dull metal which I was try to represent here. Maybe I could have done a bit better here though. Shame I couldn`t fool you! ;D Here is my first go at the complete ring. Quite basic I know but this is still about learning about lighting/textures more than modelling. Originally I just had them on their own but it looked odd so I made up a couple of ring boxes to display them . Also I changed the colour of one to a ruby. I`ve had to up the security on the laptop now! ;D

Wow, they even come in a presentation box! I just adore the colour of the gold. Now it is either rose gold or Welsh gold (very, very expensive & rare). I love the ruby one too. What a great image. I love the way you presented them on the table too & the lighting with the soft pink is just so delicious! Well done Goonie - they really are stunners!

First of all, I need to be punished for not seeing this earlier and not commenting. Second, this is P-H-E-N-O-M-E-N-A-L! The emeralds and the rings in their boxes, are shocking! I wish Lance would've seen this. Superb work, Goon!

I'll take the FA Cup and Champions League over finishing without anything But to get into Champs lge next season you`ll have to win it - which is unlikely. You won`t finish high enough to qualify either. And if you were to ask Wenger which he would prefer - Champions League place or FA Cup you can be sure he would say Champions League every time because that`s where the money is and it`s the best way of attracting the best players. The odds against CFC winning the Champions League have dropped considerably ... as have CFC in the FA Cup Final. Maybe you've got to be in it to win it

Bayer Munich with home advantage and Chelsea with 4 players missing? My money is on BM.
Did well to get to the final though.

Another great blender work from Goonie, it is so gorgeous, and to shift/rotate the right box made it even more realistic, great touch mate.

Here are a couple of screenshots from Microsoft Flight. I forgot to turn off the crosshairs in one of them . Plonker! Slight adjustments in PDN but not too much. This is more or less how they came out to start with.

No bad graphics. Is the program working now the way you want?

Absolutely! I had to download it again through Steam though to get an add on bundle from Steam to work. It was a special offer expansion pack which gives you 3 more planes and access to the rest of the islands , more challenges, jobs etc. for £21.99 Buy the equivalent separately through MS and it would cost £28 so it was worth re-downloading the program for. I was so happy with the program I even went out and bought a proper joystick to fly the aircraft properly - although it takes some getting used to. I often end up going back to the mouse because I lose control! ;D Graphics are superb, and you can join other guys flying and have a chat while you are doing your jobs , learning to fly whatever. Two of the aircraft ( the Maule and the Vans RV6) have full instrumentation so you can fly on instruments like the real thing. The more I use this `game' the more like a proper sim it feels. Which is great. My only gripe( and everyone else`s) is that there is no cockpit in the warbirds ( the Mustang, Zero & P40) which is crazy. So not many people are willing to pay for what they consider to be half finished aircraft.
God I`m babbling on a bit here. Sorry, I hope I`m not boring you . ;D
Anyway the game is working just fine, but it is taking me away from all things arty. I havn`t used Blender or PDN much at all over the past week or so since I got the program.
Guess I`ll have to make time. Can`t dessert everyone here can I?

So this is a game?
|
|
|
Post by Goonfella on May 5, 2012 5:19:38 GMT
It has gamey elements to it, like the Aerocaches which are hidden at various places around the islands and you have to find them to get XP ( not the OS! ) which builds up your score and the more you get the more features you can unlock in the game/sim. Also you can take on jobs , like ferrying cargo or people . The better you are at flying the job the more XP you earn. On the other hand there are VOR`s(tell you where you are) and ILS points (approach and landing aids) which you can use to navigate like a real aircraft. I still can`t use VOR`s yet but ILS`s I have just about mastered. Here is a screenshot of the Maule instrument panel- So you see, it`s really a sim and a game all in one.

Well Goonie, you certainly deserve some down time. I am pleased that you are having fun with it & that you will not desert us. Otherwise I might have to get the game too & shoot you down so that you will come & play with us again. ;D

Anyway the game is working just fine, but it is taking me away from all things arty. I havn`t used Blender or PDN much at all over the past week or so since I got the program. A change is as good as a rest I've always found, mate. After coming across an old PSone with assorted games t'other day I've been spending less time online ... the simulator looks great fun. I'm getting boring in that I'm starting to ration 'time' ... but when I clear the backlog over the summer I'll definitely be trying this out. BTW ... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17878435
