Once again I love the abstract approach to this, the colours are almost pastel in there softness, which only adds to the contrast of image and message, I often see influences of Dali in your work.

The abstract shape reminds me of an apple core & by association a tree. I like the shapes lying down too & the colour combination is very nice. The way you've done the burnt trees is really good esp. the one on the left. I like the wooden floor boards burning too. What a great job you did with this image & I too like the message.
Bravo Dug!

I really love the fire in the background. The way you added white smoke around it was such a good idea. The message reminded me of Lorax in the Dr. Seuss books.

Ooops. I missed Gottle o' Geer ... nice mix of textures. Very surreal - I like it. Not sure where you got the inspiration for 1000 trees but it brought this to mind ... A Thousand Trees (they're best album IMO ) As I look at it and listen to the song I'm drawn to how effectively this could be a translation of the song. ( About lost trust and child abuse) Very nicely done either way

AFG,BBQ,Blackpenny.Helen,Welshblue,Goonfella,Pixey. Thank you all for the encouraging comments and taking the time for a wee visit. Much appreciated! @ Helen,Reading Dr.Seuss books, still on my to-do list. @ AFG,My first look at a Dali painting was when I was about 9-10 years old, totally changed my whole outlook on life. There have been other influences, especially in music, but not with quite the same jolt. @ Welshie, Spot on. When I first heard the song I did an oil painting kind of the same but in the foreground a huge spent match. I would give anything to be able to sing like Kelly Jones.

I've been lucky enough to see them live a few times - even luckier to make the 100+ miles home again ;D I was lucky enough to see them in in just a small few hundred crowd @ a local art centre just before they released the Word Gets Around album Something to show Kelly's dulcet tones www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN613siBzVk&feature=relatedRIP Stuart Cable. An awesome drummer

Cheers heat stroke I am glad you liked it.
Welshy that made the hairs on the back of neck have a riot.I thought O'Connor had that Prince number all sewn up,how wrong I was, still maybe a duet with them both would be worth a listen. Thanks for making a cool start to my morning and day.

It definitely looks like plastic. It also sort of looks like a little, playful-looking spaceship. The cracked effect looks like the new china glaze nail polish I see in ads now.

Dug, I really like the cracked paint effect. I don't know how you do it but it looks so cool in your images - like the table & the cube. I saw an old table with that effect on the weekend. I like the red & cream colour combination on yours.
My only criticism is the nail & the ball. There should be a bit of a shadow where the ball attaches I think.
The way you've blended the reddish orange with the yellow is delicious! The eye is absolutely marvellous. The shapes in general are very pleasing & the image is clever in design too. I need some bright shiny nails too... ;D

Helen,Manc,Heat stroke,Blackpenny and BBQ. Thank you all so much for the nice comments. This started out as an experiment with Leif's vector work and the bright colours and childlike abstractions of Joan Miro, but as they say best laid plans.Still I managed to keep the childlike and colours of Miro, sorry Leif,I will get back to trying the vector method.
@bbq. Sargon's cracks, which I keep in script lab, then I use isolate lineart and alpha mask. I always leave my highlights/shadows until the end to do,well spotted I missed that one completely.

Sargons cracks? I have no idea how to use Script Lab. I for one would love a tute on this method of making the crackle effect, if you have the time & inclination, that is.

Sorry BBQ.I Never explained this very well.Sargon's tutorial on cracks. You don't have to, but I have saved it in scriptlab so I don't have to do the tute every time I want to use it.It has a white background therefor I use isolate lineart to get rid of the b/g then threshold to make it darker or lighter. Then copy to clipboard for alpha mask, run mask, delete what you don't want. If you do the tute in scriptlab when happy with result click save then it will be there when you need it. I hope this helps. Sorry I'm not very good at explaining myself.
