Ok, back up and running again! Lance, this is what I came up with...I couldn't find the correct Metalize plugin or the AA either. I downloaded (or thought I did) the plugin that had them, I guess I missed something! i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll50/vtdad/Hokiesglassy.jpgI know it's not correct, but I'll get it right, when/if I can find the metalize plugin. thanks, VTdad

Did you download the plug-in pack? If so, it should be in Effects>Photo>Metallize.

VTDad, downloading the plugins is on ONE step. They need to be put into the Effects Folder. In some cases they need to be unzipped first. Take a look hereagain.

OK, here's a problem I'm having. I'm not sure what is meant when I read in a tutorial that I need to name layers, move layers around to do something to a layer that is behind another layer. example: I've been trying to make a VT Hokie sig that is or has the look of being illuminated, or the one I tried by Lance with the Glassy look. I've seen one called Illuminatium that looks real good and another called Lbron that's good, oh, and one called Gold that is done in gold that's great and I "DO" want to get Lance's glassy test look to where I can make that!!!! I still can't seem to find that metalize and aa's assistant plug-in I downloaded the dpy plugin but can't see it anywhere!!! thanks for any help vtdad

That's great...I would encourage you to open a gallery, and you can post your work so we can give you feedback to help. Also, if you need help with the tutorial, post it in the tutorial thread so you can get help too.

It is one of Welshblue's tutes. I usually give a note to explain that & link back to the tute. After much searching I have found it: forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18699-quick-easy-3d-rings/That was the starting point for the image. I used mirror over line & duplicated the layers often & used different settings for the layer blend modes. I really cannot recall how I did that one other than that. Mostly I can never recall how I did something because I don't take notes. I've attached the PDN file but you will have to resize it. I took out the ball so that you can redo this. The original file is over 24MB & I cannot send this size file. If this doesn't work, send me a PM with your email address & I will email it to you. Attachments:

Hey, It's still me..... I really don't know how to start a gallery, but from what I've seen of most of your all's, mine would be very very small beans anyway! Most of the stuff I've been doing is just mainly to deal with changing faces to other bodies in pics related to football anyway! I also have Photoshop4 but I keep using paintnet instead. PS4 seems way too hard to get to know...or maybe it's just that I'm getting more familiar with paintnet. ANyway, If I ever figure out HOW to make a gallery, I may do that, but I don't want to bore you folks with my things....although it pleases me to make what I now know how to make!!!!! e-mail me here anytime you want.....gkj1953@frontiernet.net

It's not that hard to start a gallery. Just click on "New Thread" in the Gallerium, and enter the stuff you made, and your attempts. That's what we are here for, to help you along, and maybe learn something from you, hence the Core Philosophy of Fans. I know others will strongly encourage you to do the same.

OK, here's something I've been trying to do for a while and just can't figure out how to make this. I really want to make a Va Tech version of Mount Rushmore. I know there is a way but I can't get it in my head how to go about it. I have tried examples from other football message boards. Here's what I was told to do. 1.Put the pic of the head on a layer that has a stone texture. 2.Desaturate the head layer. (this is where I think I'm going wrong) I just slide the little bar until I see nothing. 3.Change the blending mode of the Head layer to "multiply". 4.adjust the brightness & contrast of the stone layer to lighten the burn effect of the multiply blending mode. 5.use clone tool to fix the eyes & anything else that don't look statute like. I'm just wondering if 1. there is a better way or 2. did he leave out something. This guy isn't always on the other site that often and neither am I, therefore I can't simply go there and ask.
