Yes I think it`s superb. All those swirly patterns getting smaller and smaller, drawing you into the image. And lovely jewel in the middle. Nice one Barbie. I`ve got the tool but I`m stuck for what to do for an image.

Thanks so much Chrisco, Helen & Goonie. I guess Madjik didn't have that in mind but that is what came out of it.
Got 4 new ones on page 1. Got a bit of time now to do a bit more.

Love the fish pix. (See it on DA ) It has just a bit of pop art in it. Nice to see your technique used on in that way.

Thanks Leif &Heatstroke.
Hubby said that the fish were not in water but floating on it. Yep, that was the idea. I was going for a bit of a glassy look. Still trying to replicate what I did for the scales. Each scale was done with the line tool. Got to get a tablet...

Wow. Your latest images are amazing. I absolutely love those fish. And I like what you do with the abstracts. You make the main image really pop out from the background. That's really cool and sometimes hard to do.

"Panic" is astonishing! I like how it all goes so well together. And again, your color choice is absolutely fantastic. You have a very good ideas.

Yes, as BP said - panic looks like it says And Solace is lovely as well, as are all the others. The fishies are sooooo cute FYI - the link to the tutorial on Panic only takes one to the PDN main board. Anyhoooo - I'm sure I will be able to find it and must give it a try. I still want to do your Panel tute as well, sometime soon

I have enjoyed looking through the works I have missed, love the lighting of Peony and like the others I think Panic is great but I would love to see a version without the actual word, the colours and movement of the shapes is fantastic

Not sure where to start ...
Solace. Love the 'simplicity' of this and the way the curves bring tears to mind
My friend Jack ... Awesomeness. My type of abstract. A bit of moodiness with a huge dash of hope chucked in
Peony ... Simply stunning. Nothing else I can say about it that'll do it justice
etc etc etc.
All so very different, but all so great

Thanks so much AFG, Heatstroke & Welshy.
New one on p.1.
Having a bit of a rant over on the main forum. Same old...lack of comments but everyone wants help. A bit of reciprocity is surely not too much to expect.
Thank goodness for you guys here!

I went over and read the rant on the main forum and once again it got me thinking about C&C and the ways in which it can be applied. Take for instance the work you have just posted, on the artistic side I think it is great, I love the colours used so from that point of view I can offer no advice. However when I was looking at it I kept thinking how running the back texture at an angle would give it a different look, but would that be artistic C&C or would it be personal taste C&C. Often to give good C&C you have to put yourself in the artists shoes and first understand what they are trying to achieve or you can miss the whole point of the work. Unless you are familiar with the artists style it can be a difficult thing to do. I remember a while back when Oma was working on her Princess picture, she was having a hard time with one of the arms, at the time I could not understand why because she has a good eye for detail, it was not until she posted the reference picture that I could see the arm was in an unnatural position and had been place that way by the photographer. I think a lot of the time people don't offer C&C not because they don't want to but are simply unable to offer any.

Welshy too said that at times people may be in awe of some artists & too afraid to comment. Even if they don't C & C, a quick comment like, "not fond of the xyz but the colours in abc are good". Just some kind of acknowledgement for the hard work in helping someone would be good too.
I had someone say that the eye in the Nautilus Tears creeped them out. Yay! A response! An emotion evoked.
Not many here have formal training as a artist & C & C takes practice. Welshy has in the past echoed my sentiments in regards to comments in general.
Also, here we have gotten to know each other & the styles we like to work in. Often we have that hidden camera (I blame Goonie for making that fabulous camera) so that we often work on similar themes.
Yep, I remember the Princess picture & the grief it gave Oma.
Critique doesn't have to be negative either. We can sometimes see nothing at all wrong in an image.

Just as we deffer in our art, we deffer in our way of commenting on others art. But there are two important things when commenting. One is to remember to show a bit of politeness. And the other is try to give some constructive feedback if you think you see something wrong. And if you like what you see, try to tell a bit about what you think when you see it. EDIT: Commentet on the latest on DA

Great New Images Barbieq, for some reason I like the Follow very much, even from the thumbnail, but I can't view it in a full size, looks like the link is taking me to a wrong page.

Thanks Leif! You are so right about needing an anchor for the image. When I worked with Welshy on the Nautilus image, he put pipes in the background to give it some depth & an anchor. So that was one thing I learnt from doing the collab & the feedback received on the WIPs. The colouring was a lot of paint brush & blurs with different colours on different layers. I had a reference line drawing but the colouring was from memory. I could have used a reference for the colours too but I was too focused on the process (again ) Helen thank you too for your comments here &on dA. I was trying for a soft look. Callas are quite a fleshy flower but the colours merge softly. So your comments let me know got it right. Sargon, good to see you back here. Thank you for letting me know about the thumbnail. Is now fixed. MIght see these fish in another image. The full size fish shows a lot more glassiness to the scales. I love that one too. ;D EDIT: Added the wallpaper that I did for my son Jesse, p.1. He owns the bike & I got the image from his Facebook page. I took a black & white Yamaha logo & gave it the barbieq treatment & some of Lance's wonderful glassy text. The quote is from Ned Kelly (Australian bushranger) that Jesse has tattooed on his upper arm. He hasn't seen it yet but I hope he likes it.
