Love the vase. A brilliant texture and colour that compliments the flowers excellently The mandelbulb fractal was a great starting point and you've shown what a great eye you have by using it as you did. I've seen the debate about which variety of flowers they are - who cares. They work and are very believable. I'm unsure about offering constructive critique anymore, but I can't help thinking that if each flower had a small drop-shadow of black - then the blend mode set to Overlay ... it would set them apart a lil' bit more Either way - very, very nice

Great work on the vase. It looks almost real. I can see it is not real, but it has the same amount of details and colors as the real thing. In its one way it has the attraction as the real thing.

Wonderful collaboration! I'm trying to think of something else to say, but it all comes out as babbling, and everyone else has already said what I'm sort of thinking, so I'll just leave it at that.

@welsh (if you're still here): I worked on the flower and after I finished it I was wondering what I forgot to do. So yes, the shadows were meant to be there, but I forgot to put them there. Yikes. Thanks your kind words always. Leif: I understand what you're trying to say. That's a big compliment. blackpenny: Thank you. It was nice to work with Patty on this piece.

I love blue and orange together, and this is just gorgeous. I like the orb with the dark ring in it and the shape of the blue. Nice work!

A lovely image Helen. The blue is like a cool blue gas flame flickering around the hot centre. Beautiful colors . The title is appropriate as yours is the only new post on the forum at the moment! So I thought I would keep you company. (I hope the lack of posts is not a result of what happened - it would be such a shame if this place ended up like it used to be when I first signed up. )

Well, people like me are too stubborn to give up on my own utopia yet GF. ;D Just more pontification and trying to get my head straight from this side of the keyboard drama that always creeps up this time of year. Makes me more shy than normal. Helen: That's my kind of image there. Blue on dark with a wonderful centerpiece. Good color contrast on the orb to set it up as well. I've been studying orb tutorials just because it fascinates me that these are not just S3D creations. Still keep getting stuck on making backgrounds though. Guess I should just man up and make an orb or two ... Not sure why I feel compelled to make one or why I'm getting stuck either. I think its because there are so many good ones floating around in our galleries to some degree.

Lonely Orb is lovely & I think Goonie describes it well. It was a surprise image from you but very pleasant to look at. I love the way you did the blue part.

@welsh (if you're still here): I'll always be somewhere to view your work Helen. If it's here ? I honestly can't say until the weekend Lonely Orb is utterly gorgeous. Surreal strawberries and cream because I really can't imagine any other colours going together so well. Fantastic textures

blackpenny: Polar Transformation can create such beauty as well as Kaleidoscope. I used those two plugins for an image I already created earlier on (the Fairy one). Thank you for your nice words. @goon: Okay. At least I know I'm not going bonkers. I thought the same thing after I finished it. It reminded me of a flame, too. And yes, the "Lonely Orb" was named due to the fact that it was ghostly here on the board--especially when there was only one glossy when I usually make three of them. I also hope this place won't get deserted. I love this forum. Congrats on the nominations and PLUS you and I were runner-ups. delpart: It's actually not that hard. I know I'm saying this and I've created lots of them, but after doing so, I can say that it's all the tricks of shadows and highlights. I really want to see what you create. It would be cool. @barbie: Unfortunately, this piece is a little bittersweet for me. This was one of the first pieces that reflected my mood regarding what happened on this board. Nonetheless, it was another glossy that I enjoyed making. Congrats on your award/s! TheBad1: If you stay here it will be amazing. I mean, we don't have a mod here as of right now and we would like you to stay. I have to confess that I chose the blue color because you're not fond of pink that much (which was the original color of the bluish design). Congrats on your award, too! So, all in all, "Lonely Orb" has a little story behind it...

Odd that I missed the DA link ... or not so odd. (again that seemed funnier in my head ..)
Amazing work. I had to spend a few minutes to look up Kincaid's work to compare or understand the reference.
I'm imagining in real life at that size it would have a minor amount of movement for me as well. On screen it did to some degree, but I can see it being more so in person. Especially if the colors are more vibrant.
Again, my tastes lend from the ultra-real to the completely abstract. The happy medium always makes me feel like the child I try to remain on the inside. This has a nice balance for impressionism without making me have to guess. Detail level on a few things made me scratch my head but was good for making my eyes wander into the depth more. Like the potential illusion of a roadway as a water stream and vice versa; the path leading to nearly the edge of the water but not quite, somehow overgrown but still used up to there; that fade into a lighter, potentially more vibrant area beyond the bridge as glimpsed from under the bridge; and the canopy that swallows the sky yet illuminates still.

Starry Hoops in nice. It reminds me of an atom spinning and wobbling at high speed in the way you see in some documentaries. Lovely choice of colour.

**EDIT: Let me try again without using any personal inflections ...
I like the lights. They draw the eye around. That effect seems hard to do.
Cheers and thanks for posting directly.
