Sorry I haven't commented on your works earlier, but they're all so cool! The symmetry of each is lovely. The second one looks like a checkerboard and it would be cool if they sold them in that color. The third one looks like a kaleidoscope design. Nice work!

Hi blackpenny. ^_^ Yours is much prettier, but for some reason that 3rd GridGrad reminds me of the Muppets in Space movie. The end credits were done in Kalediscope with the Muppets. I'm expecting Kermit or Miss Piggy to appear suddenly. lol On a side note, how in the world did you make that shaped gradient? It's beautiful.....

Thanks Helen. Don't worry about not commenting, I don't get around to it all the time either. Hi moninca, and thanks for the comments. I love the Muppets! Hubby bought the first 3 seasons on DVD and he's looking for the 4th. For the Shaped Gradient with Equations, I posted a mini-tut a couple of pages back. Both are fun plugins once you get familiar with them.

Ah thanks. ^_^ I have Equations, but not shaped gradient, so I'll go back through and pick it up. Much appreciated!

Nice experiments with grid grad. The 3rd one could be an excellent floor covering. Always a pleasure and thought invoking to visit your gallery.

Inspired by Welshy and Sargon, I had to try doing rust, and found a tutorial on the main forum.

Like the results of the Grid Grad and when I was looking at the rust work it struck me if it was a bit smoother it would make a wonderful leather/hide texture.

What a great image! It does remind me of carved leather too. Great colour.

Olav KM published a great leather tut on the old Fans board ... I like the rust image The only suggestion I could add is maybe differentiate the object from the background. Something like this: ... but it all comes from practice and you've made a great start

Thanks Welshy! I followed your advice, tweaked it a bit, and here's version 2. I've done Olav KM's leather tutorial, too.

I haven't commented on this piece. I like this image because I can see your style incorporated into a Welshblue-type work. Very interesting piece. I like the second version because it's slightly brighter and it brings out the engraved part more.

wow, amazing how just a bit of brightness totally changes the look. I too like the 2nd version better, although I loved the first version the way it was ;D

Thanks Welshy! A coin - now you've got me thinking. I have a version that's round, I could go somewhere with that. If I get over my GridGrad addiction.

Blackpenny, you don't have to take my advice, but I was thinking if you could add just bit more lighting (you already have on the top of the emblem), and some shadow, there'll be some separation between the object and background.
Anyway, I think you have done a great job. I keep seeing reference to "grid grad," what the heck is it?
