You know. I actually prefer people NOT to fave everything i make. If people fave only what they want i get a message about what i do good, and not so good.
And at the end of the day i post what i want anyway. ;D

I love DA. One of my favourite sites. I do agree, some ugly work gets faved to the high heavens. What really aggravates me about that is that there are pieces out there that are 100 times better and they get no attention.
For example: Patty is on DA and she has many amazing Mandelbulb works. I requested it to be a Daily Deviation, and I still have gotten no reply after a month or two. It is aggravating because her work is so much more better than some of the junk they have on there that gets Daily Deviations.
-- But all in all, I think DA is a great place to be and share your art. I have made a name for myself there as a signature artist, and I have met some fellow signature artists there as well. It is a fun place.

I use faving as a way to show support. I do it only when I like the art, and I think it shows that I support what you are doing. But if I dont like the artwork, I wont fave it. Simple as that. Some of the "ill fave yours if you fave mine" scenarios can actually be an opportunity to discover a new artist that you like their work! But more often than not, it just leads to disappointment. I fave almost all of the works everyone here posts because I actually like it!

None of you here are in this category ;D If I fave your work, same as Heatstroke - it's because I really like it. I am starting to get to the point where dA is getting a bit much for me. Is a DD really the be all & end all? Does a work need a viewer to make it great? What is more important - the outcome or the process? For me, watching an image grow is more important than the outcome. That is why I value the WIPs posted. I got a very abusive note from a woman because I faved work & commented on a post from her ex-boyfriend. A bunny-boiler for sure!

Interesting to see other people becoming disillusioned with the place as well. I left because of technical issues as you know. If it was not for that there is no doubt I would still be there. Interestingly , I just tried browsing to dA`s sign up page where you get the video and a quick tour - this loaded up perfectly (surprise surprise!) but as soon as I tried looking at a normal page - well I think you can guess the rest. It just proves that it`s their servers and not my laptop to blame, but they won`t have it. Faves? I just faved images I liked. Simple as that.

You do not need a Daily Deviation to prove your work is great, I just think it is stupid they give them to ugly artwork but will not give them to good artwork. There is some great pieces out there that get Daily Deviations though.

I don't even know what a Daily Deviation is ;D I only Fave things I really, really like. I like DA because of their format ...... it makes my efforts look a lot better than they are I've never had anyone other than you lot, and one friend of mine, even look at anything I've uploaded to DA But I don't mind ..... I just enjoy the whole process of making something and then looking at it. That's enough for me And thank you all when you comment

I still come here to get the best constructive feedback. You guys here understand the process because we are using the same program (well, mostly).

DA's curse and blessing is that it is a big place. A VERY big place. You encounter really great artists and some friendly people. But you also see the freaky and sometimes creepy people. And as Crisco i sometimes wonder why some art gets so much attention. But since i am against censorship i think i just have to live with it. Luckily 99% of the people i have dealt with on DA has been nice people; so i stay. But, yes. I have sometimes seen the "gun smoke" from some not so nice peoples doings.

I favor almost everyone's work (as you all know) because I see art from different perspective. I like the art most people create, especially from Paint.NET forums.
I didn't know what Daily Deviation was until Patty mentioned it.

W O O T - a total stranger commented on My Eye on DA. Yippee! I really, really wish Gooney could sort out the problem he's having with them. Surely there must be a solution

I seem to be mis-understood ... I'm not complaining about people not faving my work ... in fact, I really don't give 2 flying f**ks about that, take it or leave it is my motto ... it's the cliqueyness that gets to me. But that always does, in real life as well as forums.
As for DD's ... Personally I think the standard of work in the DD's is extremely high, and I'd die of shock to get one because my work isn't up to that standard. Art is like beauty - it's in the eye of the beholder, but the cream will always rise to the top

Well to be fair , I did have plenty of strangers , as well as you guys, commenting on my work . But , same as Welshy, I wouldn`t get depressed or anything if no one did.
Pixey I wish I could work it out as well. I would join up again if I knew my images were going to load. But every time I visit that website the pages just don`t load properly - in any browser I choose to use , not just FF.

@gooney - for the first time yesterday I experienced a slight "hanging" on DA when I moved around the site. That's never happened before. It's got to be a server problem I think

DDs are like getting into the galleria on the main forum. I've met some wonderful people on dA but here is home & here is where the criticism counts for me at least. Welshy - it's not always the cream that rises to the top... ;D

Sent my ISP an e-mail yesterday explaining the problem with dA. Today he phoned back to say that they had tried loading up the website on their own PC`s and did so without a problem. My connection is OK and there is unlikely to be a problem with the router which means there must be a setting on the laptop that is preventing the thumbnails from showing. It`s affecting all the browsers I am using so uninstalling and reinstalling any of them won`t solve it. So all this time it`s been me. I watched at work yesterday as a mate loaded up dA perfectly OK on his first ever visit to the website! And he was using just a Vodafone dongle to access the web. Chris, the guy at Newtel which is my ISP in Jersey, is going to do some digging over the weekend to see if he can come up with something. Hopefully he will find an answer to all this but I doubt it. He did suggest it might be a Windows update that is causing the problem but I`ve been through the update history and can`t find anything that would have made a difference. This is so irritating. I really would like to open another account on dA but until this problem is sorted there is no point. I reckon I won`t be joining you there until I decide to buy another laptop or PC! ( which won`t be any time soon as this one only a year and a half old)

Goon, I would check with Window' security center. You might have it set on very high, which might be affecting the performance speed. I don't know why, but that's the first thing that popped in my head.

It shouldn`t make any difference as I have Defender turned off and Avast is doing the real time scanning instead. I have thought about changing my AV though. It`s the only thing I can think of that could be preventing the thumbs from showing.
