Well I`ve got thoroughly peed off with dA so I`ve deactivated my account. Constant loading problems and all they do is blame me, blame my settings, blame my AV, Firewall - anything but themselves . So stuff it , I`m off! I did enjoy my time while it was working OK which makes it such a shame I am leaving. Thanks very much to you all who faved my work and gave advice. But I`ve just been pushed too far this time.

Man, I don't blame you for being ticked off like that. Customer services all around has really dropped off a cliff, figuratively (but could be literally). I think I probably won't be posting much on dA either since I want to concentrate on getting this board together.
Anyway, at least you have us and the main board! ;D

Thanks Lance. One of the things that has disappointed me most is not being able to browse people`s work properly. There is so much outstanding artwork to admire. Oh well. Guess it was worth a try.

I thought of you the other day mate when I was looking into upgrading to a membership there.
One of the selling points is: Gain instant community privileges Get priority in the Help Desk
As it's a business, I guess that's right ... but only if they treat everyone equal in the way the site functions (Loads etc)
For the foreseeable future I'll be on low profile there. Like Lance I'm going to concentrate on this board for a while

As I replied to them in an e-mail - why would anyone want to upgrade to a Premium account if the basic one won`t load properly! They tried to blame Adblock+ and No Script in FF and even had me disable the programs while loading! Great idea that - ads and flash slow loading times ! Not to mention the security aspect. Even with the both disabled it made no difference as they could see from the screenshot I sent them. I knew that would happen. I got the same problem in IE, Chrome and FF so I knew it wasn`t an extension or add-on causing the problem. But they still refused to admit to any kind of fault at their end saying that no one else was having problems so it must be me. But I know from what you guys have said that other people ARE having probs. So it looks like this board will be my main focus from now on - just like before. So I`ll see you on the forum buddy, I know you and Lance will do a great job here

Strange that dA seems to have problems with so many of you... I've never had a single issue with it. Too bad you had to leave, it's such an excellent place for artists like you.
Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1

Maybe the fact that you are in America and it`s an American website has something to do with it. Just a guess.

I know that others had a problem too. Not sure what country but if it is giving you that much grief then it isn't worth it.
Just happy to have you here & being able to see your work.

Awww...I'll miss you out there. I don't blamed you leaving, though. If that ever happened to me I'd leave in a jiffy. Still happy that you're here.

As i have stated earlyer, i also sometimes have problems loading DA's pages. In the 3 years i have been there, i feel they have become more focused on making money. More "cool" features, and less interest in making the thing actually work. To many bells and whistles. But i intend to stay there as i have a few other things going there. And the down time isn't that bad for me.

Thanks Barbie, Helen, Beyond Redemption (long username!) and Leif. I just tried changing to OpenDNS to use their servers in case it was a problem with my ISP . Looked promising when I first loaded up Lance`s profile page but going to his gallery was just the same. Some of the images loaded but not all. Maybe it was just a cookie problem I don`t know, it just took too long to finish loading so I closed the tab. Leif I guess if I had been on dA longer I would have been less likely to leave as well. But as I was only there for a couple of months it wasn`t such a big loss.

I have experienced that myself, and I can tell you it is definetely on dA's side. Even sometime on my phone it wouldn't load images right.

I was sorry to leave as well but I just couldn`t get on with it. Maybe sometime in the future I`ll give it another go but for now I`ll give it a miss.

I'm thinking of giving it all up too.
It's all very cliquey there. Too much if you fave mine I'll fave back etc.
Frankly I'm fed up of producing pretty hi-quality work when lesser quality stuff gets faved to high heaven
Sadly it's a place like most in the world ... who you are/ who you know - not what you do

Welshy, I hope you aren't referring to me. I usually fav your work. Lately, I haven't had much time to sit and really take a hard look at your works. They all are fantastic.
I got to agree with the last part, "I'll fav yours if you fav mine," and I think that's everywhere, in the real world and virtual.

Not referring to anyone who's a member past or present here mate.
T'was just an observation of how I see the whole place

You are right about DA being very cliquey. It is usually the same people that fave and comment. I have several times try-ed to do something completely deferent to see if it caught the attention of some other people. A few new showed up. But not many.

It doesn't have to be about the faves, though. One could merely use it as a conviniently free place to host and share art.
And they have llamas. Win-win.
Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1
