It shouldn`t make any difference as I have Defender turned off and Avast is doing the real time scanning instead. I have thought about changing my AV though. It`s the only thing I can think of that could be preventing the thumbs from showing. I've been using Avast since you suggested it and I was just on DA and posted some of my new pieces. No problems with Avast.

A few times now when trying to browse dA in Chrome I have had an Aw Snap! message appear saying that there was a problem preventing the page from loading properly.
I also had a look at the forum and it would appear I am not alone with this problem after all and that Avast`s Webshield is apparently one of the things that could cause problems but if you are not having any probs Possum I doubt that very much.

I still think there's something going on with your Windows' security. Nothing to do with firewall or defender.

I`ve had a look and they are set to recommended settings so they should not be affecting anything.

I never get any of these errors you mention Goonie. I am using Google Chrome and it loads in a snap.

[sarcasm] Funny thing [/sarcasm] These days i am experiencing DA as being intermittent slow. Not that it doesn't work in any way. Just really slow from time to time.

Something must had happened when they upgraded dA to those bells and whistles they have now. I have noticed a slight lag when the site loads.
Thinking that it is Sunday, traffic is probably higher, and their server are protecting itself from overwhelming demands. Strange.

dArt thumbnails are still working well with my Firefox since adding the Users.js script.

I made a copy of it intending to try it out but I`m not sure where the js file is. As you might have guessed - I`m not exactly brilliant at scripting . Just upgraded to FF4 RC2 by the way.

My profile didn't have a Users.js file, so I made one by copying that script into Notepad and naming it Users.txt.
Copy/pasted it into the profile folder and renamed the extension to .js .
With good luck, maybe FF4 RC2 will solve the problem without any additions.

Sorry for seeming a bit dim, but where do you find the user profile? I have looked in the program file and there is no profile folder or anything. Am I looking in the wrong place?

You'll need to change your folder options settings to Show hidden files and folders. The parts in orange will be different. The path might be slightly different on Win 7.

Well I never thought I would do it but I have. I have uninstalled Firefox. For a long time it has been my default browser on the laptop but in a direct comparison with Chrome loading the same pages Firefox was c**p! Cold start loading times are still miles behind Chrome - even with the latest version. I`m afraid it has fallen way behind in the speed stakes and in FF4 several of my extensions were not compatible and had to be removed. I have kept my preferences though because I am pretty sure I will try it out again in the future. It was not the dA problems that made me decide to get rid of it , just real disappointment that it is so far behind I guess. Thanks for the advice Sarkut. It will still come in handy for when I do decide to renew my acquaintance with FF.

As I still have my profile for FF I am still able to use the code you posted. I just want to clear something up. Do you CREATE another folder within the profile called user.js to put it in or do you just paste it in and change the extension to .js? The path is the same in 7 by the way. As the full version of FF4 is now out I am tempted to install it again. I just can`t get over my FF addiction. I think I need a shrink! ;D Strangest thing. dA seems to be getting better. I tried (again!) but this time the images loaded as they should and I could even look at a couple of galleries. Unfortunately not everyones gallery is loading. Lance`s for example. I can see his profile page OK though. It`s very erratic but getting better. This is using Chrome though, not Firefox which I still have not re-installed.

OK thanks Sarkut. I downloaded the finished FF4 and put the code where you suggest but it`s made no difference.

Goonie, This is certainly a mystery. I just read in another thread what kind of laptop you have and it seems that other than the version of Windows 7 (you have 7 home premium and I have 7 Pro) we have very similar computers. Both have the Core i7 quadcore processor with the same amount of ram. We are both running Chrome and since Google updates it automatically, you and I would have the exact same version. Are you using any Chrome extensions like adblock or flash block? I don't have them installed on this computer, but I did on my last laptop and had no problems with DA. I think it must be your router or your ISP's DNS database. I really don't think it's your lappy at all. There is a chance that it could be your anti-virus or firewall (other than Avast since I use it and have no issue with it). Maybe something has blacklisted that site because of a threat at some point? Remember a few months back when we were all complaining about the ads on there that had malware attached to them? I think that might have something to do with it. I wish I were smart enough to give you the answer.

I do have the Adblock extension in both Chrome and FF but I have tried browsing the site with Adblock disabled and still had the same result. Ironically the one thing that did display was the ads! I`ve already had a word with my ISP and they did some checking and they had no problem loading it on their own computers so it`s not a DNS database problem either. Which leaves the blacklisting of the site. I agree that something on this laptop has blacklisted the site. I`ve looked in Avast and there is nothing to suggest it has done that. I use the firewall that comes with Windows so it`s unlikely to be that. My router does have a firewall as well so I`m wondering if it could be that. I remember the problem with dA and they said they had to move some peoples accounts to different servers or something like that. Maybe that`s the problem as well. Anyway I`ll just have to ignore dA for now . I got on fine without it before and I`ll get on fine without it again. Thanks for trying to help though Possum.
