Fading of the Day, is so beautiful, the texture on the mountains is excellent, and same thing on the grass in the lower parts of the image ( foreground). You are right, the PNG version is much better, regarding the subject, really great use of Smudge. And the Abstract, is amazing he will love it for sure, HB

Abstract looks so, what can i say, "professional." Looks like something you would find on the wall of any office or public library. I bet some people could sit for hours and try to imagine what it is.

Abstract 1 is so cool, and very smooth.
Fading of the Day is a beautiful mountain scene, I love the touch of pink in the sky.

Helen, Heat stroke, Sargon, Pixey, Leif and Black Penny.... many thanks for the kind words and comments The latest work is called "The Long Journey" because it has taken a couple of years to get to this stage with my digital art, but for the first time I can look at a work and think "painting" ;D

Yeah. That definitely looks like a painting. A combination of realism, and paint like texture. Realistic, but not THAT realistic you get the feeling it is a photo. Great motive and composition. The picture looks "in balance." I feel i tend to look at the center, and not let my eyes wander around.

Abstract 1 ... wow. If your old man doesn't like it, send it my way. It's like a hand reaching out. Awesome background.
The Long Journey ... wow. Truly beautiful and stunning. Everything about it works for me. Textures/ colouring/ shading and that castle is genius. All nicely set off by that great frame

Sigh - The Long Journey is very much like a painting and makes me want to meditate. Yes, so peaceful and calming.

Wow afg, a real painting, and you photo it , I like also the wood work very much especially the lighting/shading , what about adding a some dropshadow and gradient to the white part? Just an idea, it looks excellent mate. In my screen the frame is cutoff in the lower part "bottom edge", not sure if you meant it to be like that or the file is not loading completely.

I think everything has been said already.I like just that hint of colour in the abstract and I am glad you're getting to be where you want to be with the paintings side. Totally amazing!

AFG, again I am late to the party but I have to agree with the comments before me. I adore the way you've done the landscapes but the abstract is really superb! I love the minimal colour & the shapes especially. Brilliant work & good to see you are able to finish these.

Let's Hide inspired by Pink Floyd "Echos" and Helens wonderful Dolphin painting,"Art for a Mechanical" is the partner of "Abstract 1" @ Pixey : I’m glad a sense of peacefulness comes through the work because that’s how I always feel when doing this type of image @ Goonfella : Thanks mate @ Blackpenny : Thank you, I got a real sense of achievement from this one @ Welshy : Thanks mate, the inspiration for the landscape was twofold, first was the Gaelic word “Dundrum” which translates as “Fort on the ridge” and the second was the legend of “ The Soldiers Leap”, with a bit of artistic licence taken @ Leif: As part of the inspiration for this comes from the legend “The Soldiers Leap”, I wanted to make the centre a focal point, in much the same way his eyes would have been drawn to look before making the leap @ Sargon: thanks mate, the frame was just a bit of fun I added to give it the painting feel @ Dug: Thank you, and I hope the method for shadows has been of help @ Barbieq: Life gets hectic at times with too much to do and not enough hours to do it, there are two abstracts (i will post the second) and they are a direct reference to the discussions I have with my Dad, he refers to me as a “Creative” and I refer to him as a “Mechanical”, facts, figures and the calculation of structures are when he is in his element, but over the last few years he has began to appreciate how important art is (even to the point where he enjoys talking about different artists)

AFG, Art for a Mechanical Mind is just wonderful! I love the text (not that I understand the equation at all) along with the what looks to me like sheets of metal cut out. Probably because hubby has been doing that for his Laverha motorbike (a blend of Laverda & Yamaha). The subtle colours are great too. A fitting mate for the other abstract one.
The dolphins are so beautiful. The scene is very atmospheric & I love the smiles on their faces. It reminds me too of the environmental damage humans are doing for some reason, like the exploitation of earth's wonderful creatures for greedy gain. I cannot decide whether it is a happy or sad image - both feelings are coming to me at the same time.
In any case they are both truly lovely pieces. I am so glad that your dad can see the value in art now.

"Let's Hide" is a wow factor! It looks like one of the painting done by Disney animators. It's gorgeous! Love composition and great usage of colors. The abstract piece is also lovely. One of the few pieces I wouldn't mind hanging in my home. I'm surprised an art gallery didn't ask to hang it up there.

Let's Hide ... firstly I can't get Bowie's Let's Dance out of my head now Awesome use of smudging again mate. It really adds to the depth of the whole thing. Awesome job on the dolphins and that lil' bit of light on the back of one really makes the whole thing 'pop' Art For A Mechanical Mind ... love it. Very clever using the hexagrid on the blue part

I have had a loan of a Wacom Tablet for a couple of days, Shadow Stallion is the outcome This is the base shape from which the rest is built on @ Barbieq: I don't understand it either only Art > (is greater than, the most important part ) , the blue was added to give a metal/mechanical feel and strangley while painting the dolphins I was undecided whether to have them hiding from danger or in fun @ Helen: thanks Helen, I do know you have a love of all things Disney @ Leif: I am two years into the journey of learning digital art and feel there is so much more to learn, so many techniques and methods and it is a style of art that is continually evolving @ Cheers mate, your input is something I always appriciate, one of the features I love in photoshop is I can create a texture in PDN then load it into PS and define it as a pattern and use paint bucket to add it as a background @ heat stroke: Thanks for such a kind comment, I would not like to count the amount of hours I have spent getting to this stage

Wow, there has been a lot of new additions I haven't seen before. I love the latest ones, and I just wish I have the same formal trainings you are having now. When I went to school, we didn't have that type of digital art training, and I missed a lot of informations...
Still, all the latest works by you are just mind blowing.

AFG, I am pleased that you have the opportunity to use a tablet. I am keen to hear how much easier it is to use than the mouse. From the outcome of the stallion it looks like a worthwhile investment.
I love the atmosphere of the stallion. The shadows are fantastic! You've captured the power & grace of the horse. My only critique is the placement of the bridle which are too close to his ears but that is only a small thing.
The background is very fitting too. The colurs you chose are perfect for this image. Well done!
