It's here! Now I can have a nap. I got Win7 so I wouldn't have to deal with Win8. Besides, hubby has Win7 so he can explain what I'm doing wrong when the computer doesn't do what I want it to do. I'm sure it will still be confusing though.

Before I do anything, I'll have to wait for it to warm up. It's -32C out there with the wind chill.

It's much colder here than it was for most of the winter. I hope we'll get a much warmer spring/summer this year, though.

Now the wind chill is -40. Where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet. Ever see the movie Fargo? I have one of those hats, and I wear it. In public. It's been colder here too, and lots more snow. I am enjoying winter though, but I will enjoy warm weather too.
Been setting up the new computer. Our neighbours are getting the same computer and have asked hubby to help set it up, so we're taking notes as we go. It looks really cool and I want to start using it, but I'll stay on this one until we're sure everything is working okay on the new one. At least this one is familiar and comfortable.

Last year we had terrible blizzards around Feb/Mar and lots of snow. The wind was so strong it blew my motorbike off it`s stand. Luckily it fell into a large snow drift so damage was minimal. But that summer was one of the best we have had for years.Lots of brilliant riding weather. So maybe cold winters are followed by long hot summers - I hope so anyway.

Pixey, my sister has Windows 8 (I have Windows 7, too) and she said she hate it at first, but now she's used to it.

Yes I am finding the same thing. At first I just could not get on with it but after using it for a while it`s not much different from 7. I have added a third party program called Start Menu 8 which brings back the Win7 start menu and even gives you a choice of start menu buttons. I have the Classic Win7 one so looking at my new laptop you would never know it was Win8.

New rant - went to the bank the other day, came out only to find the motorbike would not start! Battery flat as a pancake on pancake day. I had to push the bike home, luckily I was only five minutes away. So I bought a new battery (£65) as the old one did not seem to be charging fully while on the charger thinking that would solve the problem and I booked the bike in for it`s usual service so everything would be sorted for the summer. Went back to pick it up today and was told the Stator Plate was toast. That`s why the battery went flat. The plate is part of the electrical system that charges the battery while you are out riding. As it was stuffed the battery was constantly discharging . So I could be left stranded again at any time unless it was fixed. Now the bike is stuck in the shop and I`m looking at a £500 bill. Ouch! And to think they have forecast nice weather for the weekend as well and I was looking forward to a bit of riding. More good news. I dropped my phone yesterday and killed it dead. Had to go and buy a new one today. Luckily it wasn`t a fancy iPhone or anything, just a cheap £79 Jersey Telecom one. Now I have a slightly more expensive one (£99 Samsung Galaxy Young) but as I had the last one for only a year or so I was a bit peeved at having to get a new one already. Wonder what`s next?

Really sucks to be you right now, doesn't it? Sorry, kidding. I hate when that happens, everything going wrong at the same time. I bet when your bike does get fixed, the weather will be crappy. I'll stop trying to cheer you up now. I had a minor setback with my new computer. One of the USB ports wasn't reading. Not a huge problem though, they sent a girl to fix it. She tried replacing the port, and when that didn't work, replaced the motherboard. And I still have to make a place for it in my computer area.

Not a rant, but more a thought.
I have to laugh. I emptied out my gallery last week, and nobody noticed it. Until today. Then EER comes along and closes the thread. It reminds me of the scene from a movie and it's about Mr. Cellophane. I think the parallelism is exactly what I see in my gallery.
Thing was...I was going to quietly add back the images, but since EER locked it, I just shrugged and was about to send him a PM but decided it was not worth picking a fight.

I think it was a bit hasty of him to lock your thread Trev . I removed all my images from over there once before but it was still left open so I could just put a select few in there . He should have waited a bit longer or at least have had the courtesy of checking with you first whether it was permanently or temporarily closed. It`s their loss and our gain I guess.

Yeah. I am not sure what really happened, but frankly, I'm ok with it. Oddly, I am content about it.

Trevor - It may not be as sinister as it appears. Perhaps it was just a mechanical thing on his part. Who knows - but, sleep on it and it wouldn't hurt to PM him to say you were just house-cleaning when he locked you out

Actually, Trev, I noticed it, but didn't really want to comment. I thought that maybe (just maybe) you will change your mind. Happy that you're still on here, though.

I have reopened my gallery at the main board.
Today was one of those wonderful absolutely beautiful day. Yesterday was just as gorgeous. I went to Virginia Tech to watch the 2nd spring scrimmage (football, the American version!) and had an awesome time. Then today, mowed the yard, helped my wife plant three rose bushes, fixed the outdoor building doors with my neighbor helping, and generally got things done. It was one of the most perfect day. In time too because the next two days are going to suck. It's forecasted to rain and be cold for the next two days. Not looking forward to it.

I know what you mean Trev. Yesterday was a nice day here as well. Out on the motorbike in the morning for a spin and a Chinwag with friends, out again pm and back to give the bike a clean then watch some football (the English kind) before tea. Now its back to work for the week with just the two of us trying to do the work of five people because the boss screwed up with the holidays. At the weather forecast is good though - plenty of sunshine.
