Great news B' ... don't jump too high in case you break an ankle This gave me goosebumps: I sure am. It is really hard to describe how much I miss the teaching. One of my former students read aloud some writing she did. I cried. Her handwriting was neat & small. Why? Because she can now see. I fought hard to get her some free eye tests & glasses. The smile on her face made it so worthwhile. A woman 50+ who feared for her life every day for almost 40 years. Now she is safe & is getting the learning she yearned for. Yeah, I miss teaching! Good on you. Championing the causes is never an easy thing.

...but so worth it.
Today I cried because my Mum is going to have open heart surgery 700klm away & I won't be there with her. I bought her an amber necklace to help her through it & a pink cat's eye in a heart shape. While I am sad & anxious I am so grateful that we have free hospitals & the medical know-how to fix her.
Hubby bought me a huge lava lamp - nearly as tall as me! So restoring just watching the colours & shapes. He also bought a plasma ball for me. These 2 things I have wanted for a very long time.
I saw my grand-niece for the first time in the flesh this week. Piper is the cutest little thing & so sweet tempered although she can throw devil-worthy tanties too!

Well I'm jealous of your new toys ... Not much I can express on the other in text without sounding like a shrink, so I'll just send a virtual hug.
Sadly my versions of those got stolen and I've never replaced them since. The idea of one of those giant lava lamps is intriguing though. I think I'll update my wishlist.

Good-o, one shrink talking to another shrink ;D Lava lamp - just do it! Today we got a el cheapo temporary gazebo for the poor plants & of course us too. Love spending time in the garden. Only time will tell if the gazebo helps or hinders the plants

Barbie, your lava lamp reminded me of a gift I wanted when I was five or six. It was sold usually on Valentine's Day (for husbands and wives). It was a glass box with a beautiful, glittering flower or rose inside (which was very big). When you press the button it would glow and move in a circular motion kind of like a merry-go-round. It was so pretty. I don't even know how to describe it. I asked my mom to buy it for herself so I could play with it, but as always, we had no money.

I think I have finally solved the problem of my PB albums not loading properly. Previously when I tried to load them they would take forever, then when they did load they were all askew, and I had to reload them to finally get them to render properly. I have also been having a terrible problem trying to upload images to the site as the upload page would not load. Then , this evening I decided to get rid of all the themes I had on my albums and change them back to the Classic plain grey layout - and now the pages load properly! It would seem having a fancy theme was just too much data to be downloaded, along with the thumbs of my images, so it slowed everything down something chronic. So if anyone is having probs loading their PB albums, try dumping the theme for just the basic one and you might find it solves your problem. I am hoping it has solved mine. Although I won`t really know until tomorrow when I boot up afresh and go to the site for the first time.

Any time Barbie And I tried to load the website this morning and it loaded without a hitch. So I think the themes are the problem. I think PB should look into this, maybe their servers are struggling with all the info from the themes, images, tabs on the page and so on. I did contact them about my problem and informed them of my solution so hopefully ( unlikely though) something will be done.

One of those great days. Watching my son play and the Town team come back from being 2 - 0 down @ Half-Time to Win 4 -2. 5 seventeen yr olds on the pitch beating the League Leaders. Seeing that Chelsea FC actually won. Wales securing the Triple Crown by beating the old-enemy @ their place in the game involving the odd shaped ball ... the Grand Slam possible ? American Football without the pads ;D but I'm totally tanked by loads of free beer ... ... now listening to a song that always brings tears to my eyes www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMI5wpwXTCY

It`s alright for some. I`m working Monday - as usual. Chelsea were lucky today. Two clearly offside goals allowed by the officials. I wonder how much they were paid to ensure a Blues win? ( ;D ) At least Totteringham could only draw. A win or a draw against City puts us back in third. Not an easy thing to do but you never know.

I wonder how much they were paid to ensure a Blues win? ( ;D ) Careful mate ... when our big brother of a government starts monitoring all internet comments, phone calls and text messages. You could get sued for slander. Or would it be libel because you typed the words ? That's always intrigued me ... I haven't seen the goals yet, but have seen an interview with Roberto Martinez on the BBC website ... a man I respect a lot so to see him so agitated, I guess we were lucky. But things even themselves out. That was never a penalty against Essien when we lost to 'City. I think the Gunners will draw or beat City. You're on the ascendancy whilst they're faltering ... most of all I'm loving how the Scousers are sliding On the plus side the only team I really care about got a 2 - 1 Away win today ;D Lesser known leagues can be just as entertaining and as talented as the BigBoys ... just less hype and even less obscene wages

I have finally installed a flight sim on the laptop! From when I was first thinking about buying a laptop several years back the one thing I have always fancied trying out is a flight simulator. I even asked the shop if there were any laptops that could handle the graphics but unless I was prepared to fork out a fortune there was no hope as reasonably priced laptop graphics of the time just were not powerful enough. So I thought that was that and just made do with reading about them and gasping at the graphics . Then today I read in a magazine that Microsoft had revamped their Flight Sim to make it more user friendly and easier to use on most laptops . Renamed Microsoft Flight , the best bit of all is that it is FREE! Also, while you can use a joystick if you wish, it is still possible to fly the aircraft perfectly well with a mouse. Obviously not as expansive as FSX ( it is free after all) it is still a great way to get into Flight Sims. It`s just a shame there is only a single aircraft to fly when you first start out. The graphics are superb. I have them all set at the lowest settings at the moment, although I intend to have a play around later, but even so , there was a grin a mile wide on me gob when I started the program for the first time. How computers have advanced in such a short time - it`s amazing. It did take quite a while to download and install though. The initial download from the website is deceiving as that is over in a flash. When you click on the installer , that`s when you find out how big the program is - 1.45Gb! (or as they put it - 1,480mb) In the end it was worth the wait. If you fancy a go here is the link - www.microsoft.com/games/flight/

I`ve been reading a few reviews and not many of them are good ones. But they all miss the point. Of course this is not going to be another sim along the lines of FSX or FS2004. They are incredibly complex pieces of software. Brilliant but complex - and you pay for them as well. This is a free program made for newbies to flight sims like me. You just jump in and fly. No need for checklists, navigation etc. I`m sure many who try this will move on to bigger and better things. My biggest gripe at the moment is that I cannot seem to sign in to the Games for Windows Marketplace, which is needed if you want to get more aircraft and unlock further missions. I have notified Microsoft and my problem has been registered so I am just waiting for a reply.
Also you have to be so careful with the time. It`s so easy to get wrapped up in the program. Time just flies! (sorry ;D ).
Does your Hubby already use flight sims Barbie?

Awesome! I`ve seen vids of model aircraft and some of them are unbelievable. They look so realistic. Must take ages to build.

He didn't build this one, bought it but still needs time & patience to to all the extra bits like fitting fuel pumps etc. Naughty me broke the antenna off the remote when it fell when I was cleaning. Very seldom do I have a clumsy moment but it did have to happen then. Its been expertly fixed but I still feel bad. Those tiny, wee engines have such a lot of power! The plane is so light. I marvel at it all the time. Off for a 6 hour drive tomorrow to pick up another '88 Trans Am. No idea how he is going to fit that one in the garage as well. Hubby thinks 1 weekend of work should see it ready for the road. Nearly forgot that this was a rejoicing thread

My sister, who lives in California, is visiting me for a couple of weeks.
She wants to go on a day trip around the southern tip of Illinois. Of course, bringing my camera.

Assessments all done and submitted, University finished for the summer, have to try and find some work for over the summer months.
@welshy: I never followed the football up here this year, at one time we produced great football players, now it seems to be great managers , except they all manage in the English leagues. Scottish football has fulfilled it's ambition and now ranks bellow the League of Ireland.
