Dotty that is great news! Hope you have a great time.
Welshy, my daughter has decided that maybe she won't keep playing. She's done some injury like ripping the collarbone off the shoulder? Fed up with the bitchiness of the team members too.
Yeah, thank goodness it comes to an end. Then we get all fired up for the next round.
AFG, I thought you may have been done for the semester. Hope you find something to your liking with heaps of pay!
We went to a local zoo today for Mother's Day. I had a ball. So many of the animals there have some sort of injury & would otherwise be released into the wild or euthanised. We got to spend some time with the iguanas, a new exhibit, & one of the keepers, all for free. We decided to sponsor them since we are not permitted to keep them. The zoo is not receiving any funding but runs by using volunteers. It could use a lot of work but hey are rebuilding it slowly. Very heartening to see that all of the animals are very well fed & getting plenty of top quality food. I'll post up images in the "tourist" thread when I get some more time.
What a fantastic day!

Assessments all done and submitted, University finished for the summer, have to try and find some work for over the summer months. @welshy: I never followed the football up here this year, at one time we produced great football players, now it seems to be great managers , except they all manage in the English leagues. Scottish football has fulfilled it's ambition and now ranks bellow the League of Ireland. We're all proud of you here on Fans, mate. If you don't get a 2:1 - I'm coming up to make a protest !! I hope the search for work comes up fruits On the football front ... the final day of the EPL was great for us neutrals. I was celebrating not being a taxi-driver for 3 months. A loss making one (But secretly being proud of my son's first season in adult football. A respectable finish in the 3rd tier of Welsh Football in our first season back for a decade. Tonight it's the extra buzz of being tipped off earlier today that he's the only player to have played every game this season. Seeing him get the Best Young Player award proves me wrong. I really doubted the thinking of the management when they made him an attacking defender. I was wrong and they were right

@ Welshy: cheers mate, the young lad sounds like he is progressing nicely, and getting the award should get the interest of some bigger clubs, Chelsea and Wales in a few years.

It was our anniversary on Sunday. 6 years. We went on a lil' road trip to the seaside. Fish and chips for lunch, a nice walk, then taking the long way home and stopping for a nice pub meal late in the evening. There was 14 years of living in sin before that ... ... the sad thing is - I actually know what a fascinator is

That makes 20 years of bliss. Such a commitment doesn't always take a ceremony & a lines dried on paper...
Congratulations! Sounds like a wonderful low-key affair. Perfecto!

Hi all Sister is back in California. I had a good time with her here. She found a few treasures at the antique shops and we went, one day, to a state park site called Garden of the Gods. Got a few pictures. Seems a lotta lovey dovey this spring. I even know what a fascinator is.

Glad you had fun Dotty. I had no idea what a fascinator was until I looked it up. I did laugh at Welshy's comment though.

@ AFG ... that sounds cool mate. Had to laugh @ the rants thread. I totally get you.
Happiness. 10 years of youth and junior football development/involvement completed. A perfect time to hang up my boots and gloves.
I started out as wanting to give something back to the community when my son was 7 (also because I knew he and the squad were safe from wandering hands)
Now my son doesn't need me anymore. @ the tender age of 17 he won 1st Team Player of The Year and Club Young Player of The Year. He held his own tackling big blokes. Been assaulted by men who should know better and retaliated when he should have known better. The latter almost making me the most proud ... but it's the football that he's played that brings the biggest smile.
Not forgetting 4 other players from that original 7 - aside team from ten years ago, all doing well for themselves.
I love football. A round ball is much nicer ...

Welshy, what a great father you are! I wish that all kids could have such a father who is so dedicated to their children to put themselves out for their kids, rain, hail or shine & to be so proud of them too.
And what about Junior Blue? What a great young man! I read somewhere that he played in every game. I know that he carried injuries during that time from your previous posts. With that determination he will do well for himself.
It is so heartwarming to hear such good news about young people. I am sure that you influenced each one of those lives & they will not forget you.
