I'm kind of all over the map with things I'm creating ## ** ** Mandalas, are kind of relaxing to draw and color in...... ## ## ## ## hand from www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=view&id=815817wings from fantasystock.deviantart.com/art/Eagle-Angel-Wings-Zip-Pack-91220224Sept 21/2011 Today I attempted my first cartoon type drawing. Took me all freaking day to do the head, but would welcome critique before I go any further and make a body and background. It seems like whenever I post things I'm not very sure of, they turn out to be people's favorites, so here's some older ones I didn't post LOL ** ** Sept 16/2011 ** ** Sept 13/2011 ** Sept 9/2011 ** CATZ ** ** ** Sept 5/2011 ugh, just had it pointed out to me that I misspelled surprise in the last work. I guess there's a reason I called it "my eyes hurt" Some tinkering I've been doing here and there.... I've been cleaning up my fonts and making my own brushes but took the time to make my own bubble picture. The background I made with Apophysis. It runs so slow I get bored with it pretty fast. Our summer pet that is no longer with us. First posting Fixed the technical mistakes.... (based on the tut found at the following link forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12205-popping-out-of-a-picture/)Hooked on Glossies The glossies are based on Helen's awesome tutorial found at the following link......http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/15707-glossy-galaxy-ball-tutorial/ The heart shaped one was inspired by looking at Moninca's gallery found here....http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21915-incas-gallery/ The roses were also Helen's creation and the tut is found here.....http://www.pdnfanatics.com/rose-tut-using-shaped-gradient-t746.html Another reworked piece. First Posting Thanks AFG! You`re right. It`s so much more interesting with a little rearranging. Another original posting Unfortunately, I hadn`t saved a layered version of this one with the reflection on a different layer so I had to just cut it out. I still like it though. I must learn to not use reflection so much! Just because I think it`s cool, doesn`t mean it makes it better! Lesson learned I hope. forgot to make it smaller so here's the thumbnail I FINALLY got through this Tut. I've tried so many times and just couldn't get it! This is an accomplishment for me. A little early for Christmas, but I was in the mood to do bright and shiny LOL The technique for the neons are based off of Sargon's tut a couple of posts down the following page.... www.pdnfanatics.com/trouble-with-this-flower-tutorial-t752-15.htmlThe lace technique in the following piece was made with blackpenny's tut found here.....http://pdnfans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intermediate&action=display&thread=99 The Glass/gloss orbs are from Sargon's tut here....http://www.pdnfanatics.com/make-a-glass-gloss-orb-t603.html Original Post The reflections were wrong and I hadn`t saved the layered version so I did a whole new one... My attempt at Barbie's Panels Tut. I got the images at stockxchange. Barbie's tut is found here>> pdnfans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intermediate&action=display&thread=100Another Tut. Looks like a porthole to me. Again, photos are from stockxchange the tut can be found here....http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12293-interface-orbs-long-and-image-heavy/ I have NO idea how I did this! I can't even remember what tut I was supposed to be following. A mess of tutorials all thrown together. LOL The gold technique for this one and most of my gold pieces are from this tut by Sarkut pdnfans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tuts&action=display&thread=107this one is blackpenny's fault! She showed me equations This was my try at the following tut....http://pdnfans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intermediate&action=display&thread=38

Great start to your gallery! ;D Great take on Barbieq's panels - everyone who does that one comes up with something totally different. The porthole looks familiar, I might have taken a crack at that one - the flowers are a nice touch. The last one has really cool colours. I can relate to not knowing how you did something, that's what most of my work is like. A couple of times I've taken notes, but even then I can't understand them. Oh yeah, almost forgot - love the sig!

Genius on the burger. A very effective result on a great tut'
Porthole2 ... another clever idea. Nice wood; but I can't help thinking more metal would have been nicer instead of the wood ? Great touch with the flowers. Maybe a touch of Drop-Shadow to make them pop a lil' bit more ?
Who cares how you made the 3rd one. It's good. Another genius touch in adding the waves
A really good start to hopefully a long interest in PDN

blackpenny, thanks so much for the encouragement. And thanks again for the link to Droste. I've bookmarked it in case someone has trouble finding it in the future! I think I know what I'm going to be playing around with tonight. The sig was something I whipped up quick because my posts looked so bare without something LOL I have an avatar but for some reason it won't post. No worries. I'll figure it out and how to center my sig LOL
Welsh, thanks for the tips. I am just starting to realize that things need shadow! LOL I think I may be lucky and have the unflattened image. And looking at the wall again, you're right, it doesn't mesh with the pic, although I was thinking boat walls, and boats make me think wood LOL
Lance, thanks for taking the time to look. I seem to be getting more and more addicted to paintdotnet! Two months ago I knew nothing. It takes a lot of reading and surfing, but it's well worth it. I love this new toy called paintdotnet LOL

Oh, no. Not the hamburger. Only if you knew how much I wanted one. It looks so delicious. What you've done with barbie's tut is very nice. Perfect panels and everything. I also love the lens/glass the parrots are in. Oh, and the flower in the front, adds such beauty. Lastly, great abstract. Very colorful and mesmerizing in a way.

Thanks Helen. I didn't really like the abstract at the time, but a few days later I did. Sometimes staring at the same image makes it not look as good. LOL and that hamburger pic makes me hungry every time I see it. LOL I usually settle for grilled cheese and hot peppers.

Oooohh! I do love the works you have posted so far. The icing on the cake for me is glassy roses. Each one of your images are so well done. What a great outcome with the Equations too. I sure am glad BP showed us that plugin. I never knew how to use it but I sure do like the outcomes. Brilliant idea with the background too.

Great start to your gallery, looks like you are on your way.Taking the techniques and information from the tutorials and adding yourself to them is for me what it is all about. Reading your own comments up above you are defiantly hooked. Always enjoy what you are doing and it will show in your work.

Goonfella. thanks for taking the time to look through my pics. It's great to know others are just as addicted to this program as I seem to be. LOL
Barbie... seriously? LOL I was almost scared to post the glassy tulips because it's such of mess of things that don't really go together at all. I think you can tell that I love bright primary colors! The background for the flowers was partly from Lance's embossed background in his first piece from his gallery. There was so much color that I figured black and white was the only possible background. Looking closer though, I think the middle orange flower should be in front of the other two bottom ones. It would make the arrangement look more 3D I think. At least I'm saving all my pics in multi-layers now and can go fix it! Gosh, I"m saving so much I have at least 5-10 different versions of each pic and so many layers for each one! LOL. I got my bf to pick up some memory sticks for me!
Dug, Yeah, I am definatly hooked. I'm even defiantly hooked! *chuckling* That was a Freudian slip for sure! I've been playing around with computers for over 11 years now but this is the first time I've tried anything really constructive. My chatting, Facebook and pogo games are REALLY suffering! Not to mention my scrapbooking, cardmaking and ceramics! LOL There is so much to do and learn on this program it's unbelievable. I got my niece's daughter to download it last night. And my bf has installed his and was tinkering with it the last two nights. I can see how much I've learned just by watching him trying to figure things out and showing him how it works. He's usually the one teaching me.
Okay, I'm rambling again. Time to stop typing and go do some more playing. Besides, it's hard typing around a 16 pound cat. Can barely see the laptop screen LOL
Thanks for looking and commenting everyone!

The tulips are wonderful! I like the combination of tutorials. And the flowers are very pretty. I love plugins that are new to me, I'll play with them all day. Glad you're having fun with equations. I'm totally addicted to PDN too. I don't do housework anymore. My hubby uses it too, mostly adjusting and resizing images, which is how I started. He showed it to someone who is really enthused, and I've told a few people about it. My mission is to convert the world to PDN! *lol* (Thanks, Helen!

Impressive. I see you make good use of the tut's. And it is a good thing to see you already try out your own variations.

Helen, thanks so much. I was actually hesitant to post those two pics as they seem kind of childish and simple to me and everyone else looks so professional. This program is like coloring but no mess to clean up afterwards! hahaha. And the coloring book is full of empty pages. and the markers never dry out!
blackpenny, I'm thinking not doing housework would be a plus for me. I'm OCD about housecleaning, although I didn't make my bed this morning.......... or do the dishes..... LOL I want everyone to get enthused about this program too. I only use facebook now to post my pics from here.
Leif, thanks for looking and commenting. Just when I think I've done most of the tuts, I find another set somewhere else. And the ones where I had no clue what they were trying to teach are starting to make sense to me.

I packed away my calligraphy and other art supplies over a year ago in a massive re-organization and de-clutterization, and haven't gotten back to them yet. I like not having to clean up too, and not having piles of paper to step over and around.

Your "attempts" at art are very good, love the tulips and the abstract sun and sea, nice use of kaleidoscope in that one.

Oh Venicet - what an amazing start with the tutorial results. Each one is so special and so much better than anything I came up with when I did them. You have a flare for this and a marvellous "eye" for colours. Very well done

Thanks so much for the kind words Pixey. I"m sure your works were better than you think. We are all so critical of our own work I think. I know I keep trying for simple and classy, but it always go bright and flashy LOL

Picasso said"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I think artists remain in touch with the inner child, I love the background you have put together for this one it really lifts the whole work. You have done a great job with the Orbs, I tend to by-pass reflective objects as I put the reflections where I want rather than where they should be which often has the effect of putting Sargon into melt down ;D

Venice, I know what you mean I try to be subtle but in the end I go, "No! I like this better!" ;D I love the way did the Inner Child one. The background is lovely! Like a quilt. The girl & the text look so glassy. A brilliant job!
