I tried & failed too Venice but with each failed attempt we learn something, so even when we fail we achieve something.
When I first started I was posting stacks of images & I had the time then too. Don't be afraid to post. Most of us would love to have the time to post more (images & comments). We consider you an active member not a stalker... ;D

AFG, thanks for the kind words. I got the idea for the lights from the neon tulips so played around until I got something I liked. The cords I cheated with. I made copies of my twisted chain tut and glowed them LOL. Ahhh, the seventies. Thanks to your comment I just grabbed my 70's disc with over 10 hours of music from that decade. Archies, Andy Kim, Bay City Rollers, Bobby Sherman, Carol King, Doctor Hook, LOL My toes are tapping.....
Barbie, thanks for the words of encouragement. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that struggled with the glossies. I'm so glad to have found this program. Having no energy from being sick has been a real challenge. Now I'm excited to get up in the morning and play with the program. I spend up to 10 hours or more a day sitting with the laptop in front of me. Amazing how fast time flies when you are working on something!
Pixey, LOL thanks. My critical eye says that the gold on the glossies should be less clunky, and the words Merry Christmas on the other should be more crisp.. Of course I didn't notice that until after I posted them here. I'm playing with some more glossies right now. My head is just spinning with ideas. This morning I woke up with the solution in my head to something I've been struggling with, and a couple of hours later I can't for the life of me remember what the problem is, but it's in my brain what the solution is once I need it. LOLOLOL

Your glossies are drop-dead gorgeous. I haven't seen them until now. Geesh, you're doing some fabulous work! Love the gold work around the glossies. And the roses inside the orbs, oh, how lovely!

Thanks Helen. It's all because of your tut so the thanks goes both ways. The roses were a tut too. The gold frame around the pink hearts globe was a mistake that ended up being useful LOL

Jeepers Venicet Your work is just amazing. You are a natural and have 'the eye' for this, no doubt there. You just know how to put it all together in such a tasteful way and your glossies are just perfect. Congrats too on the sale of your first piece. Well done! Love the chipmunk - I've often wondered if they could be pets. Sounds like he/she's no longer

The latest works are really good Venice, so here are some pointers to help with the learning process 1. The chipmunks tail would not show a reflection and if it did, the refection would be down past the hand reflection on the surface. 2. The 3 glass orbs are excellent but by using perspective you can add depth and interest (see thumb nails). 3. The Rose jewel and texture behind it are wonderful but because the texture runs the whole length of the work it creates a single plane (wall or floor) so there would be no reflection only shadow at the back of the jewel. Hope these small pointers are helpful, it is hard to believe you have only started using PDN, like Pixey says "You have natural talent" ;D

There's no way I can keep up with you, so I won't even try. Nice work on the glossies. I haven't entirely got the hang of it, but I'm content to let others 'specialize' in glossies and do my own random thing. I'm happy PDN has helped you feel better. Being sick just sucks. There are days when the first thing I do is turn on the computer and come here, saying I'll just check in and then do something productive, then I see something I want to try and end up spending hours here. You're doing great work, keep it up! ;D

Pixie, thanks so much for the encouragement! Reading from all of you puts a big smile on my face and makes me more excited to keep going. Chippy has been gone since summer of 2009. She was wild, but we gave her literally hundreds of dollars worth of peanuts every summer. I think my house is now built on a field of peanut shells! LOL I got her coming to my hands in summer of 2003 when I was putting in a garden and she would chatter away at me for covering up her holes in the lawn. I thought they only lived a couple of years, but she was around at least 6 years. I knew it was the same one because of the `chip` missing out of her right ear. She had a couple of litters a year, and the last batch she had triplets. I could never get a pic of them all together though. She didn`t let her babies near us. AFG, gosh,, thanks so much for taking the time to write all that to help me! I`m going to spend the day studying that and go back and fix them. I really wasn`t satisfied with any of them, part of being a perfectionist. Now I have an idea of how to fix them. ;D Heatstroke. Thanks! I tried your tut on your sig yesterday but my concentration level was just not up to it. I`ll be trying it again soon and will post my result. blackpenny. Awww, you are so much better than me, but thanks for the compliment all the same! I really struggled with the glossies and I`m sure it`s going to take me forever to learn shine, light reflection and shadows but I love it enough to stick with it. This program really is addicting. The download should come with a warning! LOL I actually downloaded it because I was looking to clean up some old photos and put frames around them. Here`s one of the fixes I did. I want to try it again after I`ve learned more as I`m still not totally happy with it.

Great stuff I loved this line "I have NO idea how I did this! I can't even remember what tut I was supposed to be following" That's my experience with paint.net summed up beautifully Seems we have done a lot of the same tutorials

Great work cleaning up the old photo. It looks so easy "just" adding what is missing. But once you get down to the nitty gritty, it often turns out to be quite complicated.

Outstanding new glossies venicet! I think the rose pendant is my fave, but they are all superb. Well done.

Thanks Goonfella. It took sooo long to master that tut that I'm probably going to be hooked on them for a while!
Leif, that photo is over a hundred years old, it's my grandfather as a toddler. It took literally hours to fix. Probably at least 12 hours, but I didn't really keep track of the time. It took me a few days anyway. My mom loves it so I"m going to get a copy printed up for her. That was one of the reasons I actually was looking for a photo manipulation program and ended up here.

Thanks Barbie, Pixey and blackpenny! That darn refridgerator took me about 4 hours to figure out how to draw. LOL And I forgot to put in the piece between the fridge and freezer. I wasn't even going to attempt to do feet on the thing! This posting art and having people look at it reminded me of being a kid and showing off so I couldn't resist.

Wow, and wow. I haven't had a proper look in your gallery. If you hadn't told us that you followed tutorials, I would think you have mastered some aspect of PDN. I think you are off to a fine start.

Helen, Lance and Leif. Thanks for commenting! It was actually fun to do the fridge and I think it's the first thing I've done so far without a tut for reference. It's not great, but for the top of the gallery it will do.
I have been stuck in PDN block. I just can't seem to get interested in anything at all. I start things then wander away from them and start something else. I'm keeping everything and maybe it will all come together eventually. I downloaded Apophysis and got into that for a couple of days but it's REALLY hard to understand and so slow to render. Not to mention most of the tutorials are outdated and so therefore hard to follow. I'll get back to it eventually. LOL I also tried Sculptris and I really suck at that one! Every time I read posts on here I see another program that sounds interesting and get sidetracked! That's why I"m staying away from the other galleries not made with paintdotnet! LOL I'll get there eventually I'm sure.
