You don't want such a rude person here so please delete my tutorials. I've no interests in people learning from my hard work when all is shown is dis-respect. If you do not wish to be part of this forum, you have the choice to delete your account. As for your tutorials, you may delete them if you like, but I will not delete the entire threads. The people who took the time to do your tutorials deserve respect too, so their work stays.

Trevor, I don't know if I qualify as "older", but I am older than you and my husband and I have been married nearly 30 years. Besides mutual respect, what works for us is having a sense of humour and being able to laugh at ourselves. All marriages can last a long time if men remember these six words - "You were right. I was wrong."

Bye paint.net. What a waste of six years and a reminder that friends on the internet are never really that. Six years? Come on! You must have had some fun along the way. If not, you wouldn't have done it for six years. Sorry, but i am sick and tiered of these "I am mad; i am leaving" posts. Log in and post when you feel like it. If not; then just don't. I have my ups and downs too. So sometimes i post, and sometimes i don't. That is that.

The view from my front door this morning: Yes, it is May 3, and yes, that is snow. Radar likes to play in it.

Brrrr.! Snow in May! Is that normal for you or is it just one of those freak weather events? Here in Jersey. It`s lovely and sunny - for now. Next week the forecast isn`t nearly so good but we definitely won`t be getting snow.

BP, it's cold where I live, too (in the East Coast). I'm so ready for summer any day now. And Pixey, that's just so beautiful! Do you live in mini-Paradise or something?

We've had so much snow this year, I think in February it was the most in 20 years. It's not normal to have snow in May,but not unheard of. It can snow in any month, especially in the mountains. But geez, we just had a couple of really nice days, why couldn't it last? Well, it'll be nicer soon. On Wednesday the temp is going all the way up to 8C. That's almost tropical. Pixey, that is a lovely view!

Anyone having trouble accessing deviantArt? Normally, I would be able to access it, but lately, I keep getting a "connection to server has been reset." It is baffling because I usually encounter this trouble when I try to visit Yahoo, and now dA.

Yes. DeviantArt is not responding as fast as it use to for me. And a few times not at all.

Well, guys, here's a bit of news from me. I have recently purchased an iMac, and that would mean no more using Paint.NET. I know Simon Brown posted a tutorial at the main board on how to use VirtualBox and Windows, but here's the thing, I hated VirtualBox and it is extremely slow to use. I know iMac has something called BootCamp, but I'm not interested in having Windows sitting next to an Apple OS and subjecting my new machine to potential viruses.
So, I don't know if I will be creating new art works unless I explore Gimp or try the Pixelmator (which looks darn good from browsing their site) for a while. Right now, I seem more content to taking photographs and doing some minor touch ups instead of creating art work from scratch. I am also having a great deal of trouble accessing deviantArt.
In addition, my iMac has a Nvidia graphic card, but to my dismay, my favorite 3D program, Blender, doesn't seem to get along with this particular graphic card without having to do some, um, tweaks to the card, and I am not going down that road again.
I think it's a sign that maybe it's time for me give art work a rest for a while now. I know I haven't been very active consistently due to working full-time, having a family, and taking online classes to work toward a degree in accounting. You may see me online from time to time to see how y'all are doing. I felt I should stop by and let you all know what was up in case you were wondering what was happening with me.

Well Trev, even if you do have a Mac there is nothing stopping you posting any images you do decide to create in programs other than PDN - not on this forum anyway! I would still enjoy your artwork whether its on Windows or Mac. Funny that Blender does not agree with your Nvidia graphics card as Cycles was optimized for theirs rather than AMD. It might still be worth having a look into the problem. I can understand you not wanting two OS`s on your Mac. I don`t think I would either. Like you say, it would be less secure, although nowadays with Macs becoming so popular the devious virus creators are starting to take more notice of Apple products. It is mainly because all the money is in Windows PC`s that they target them instead but times they are a changin` and soon I think you will find Macs, while maybe not quite as vulnerable, will be a bit less virus free than before. Anyway it was nice of you to drop by and explain. I myself do not create as much as I used to either. Sometimes it`s like that. A good rest is needed. Look after yourself and enjoy your Mac. Maybe you could pop by and tell us the Pro`s and Con`s of the two systems once you have settled in. You know you will always be welcome here.

Goon and Helen, thanks for your kind words.
Well, I just figured out why Blender wasn't recognizing the Nvaida graphic card. It was because I didn't have CUDA driver installed, and once I downloaded and installed it, Blender found it, and boy, talk about lightning fast render! I felt like a mad scientist bringing Frankenstein to life!
But, yeah, I am aware that virus will target any computer, iOS or Windows, it doesn't matter because there are evil people out there who loves making people miserable because they are miserable themselves!

Hey Trevor! Good to hear you have blender working for you. I do hope you will post your creations here. We looked into a Mac, and I had fun playing with some of them, but we went for a PC because of the cost. Plus the only art-making software I use is Paint.Net, and there isn't room in my brain for any more. I haven't been making art much either. I had some kind of stomach bug for a while and felt better lying down, I'm addicted to my e-reader and my tablet, and I take the pup outside many times during the day and watch him count blades of grass. This forum is as much about friends as it is about art, so let's all stay in touch whether we're making art or not.

Glad you sorted out Blender. I wanted a new laptop with CUDA rendering for that very reason but somehow I ended up with a laptop with integrated graphics! I looked around for ages at various ones, turning them down when I saw integrated or AMD graphics. Then one day I went into a shop, saw an Acer Aspire V with an i7 chip, forgot to check the graphics and bought it. Got too carried away by the fact it had an i7 in it I guess. This was also one of the things I was looking out for in my next laptop. I think I just got fed up of looking at so many different ones I just settled for this one. Now it's too late to take it back so it will be at least a couple more years before I upgrade - this time making sure I get what I want and nothing less! BP You are so right there. It`s nice to just have a natter sometimes on this friendly forum.

I get overwhelmed easily shopping for something, and sometimes I'll just give up and take whatever. However, I just bought a sewing machine with very little stress. I read some online reviews, but didn't know where some of them were available. Then I went to a store to see what they have, wrote down the model numbers, and researched them. One was new so I couldn't find any reviews. Two of them had issues I've had before, so I crossed them off. Another one was possible, but the best review was for the simplest, least expensive machine. I'm only planning to use it for hemming and repairing clothes, so all I want is something simple, and I chose that one. Now I'm getting used to using it, and soon I'll be able to wear the shorts I've had hanging in the "needs fixing" closet for ages. I'm so impressed with myself for making a decision, I had to share that.

I`ve got some old socks that need doing if you need a bit more practice.

Socks are probably easier to mend by hand. It works really well putting them over a light bulb. Even easier - throw them out and buy new ones. I'm not so impressed with myself anymore. I was doing a step workout and sprained my ankle rolling it on the edge of the step. Idiot! So I've mostly been sitting with my foot elevated, icing it a couple of times a day, and cursing at myself. It's turning neat colours though.

BP, make sure you use Epsom salt on your sprained ankle. Believe me, it's the best medicine out there. And rest, too. Take care. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Helen. I've been resting a lot, and the novelty is wearing off. It is getting better, I can bend it a little more every day.
