You HAVE to be kidding - right? I can't believe it. Over here we're having an Indian Summer and it's gorgeous.

BP: Whaaaat? That's just crazy. Like Pixey, we're having an Indian summer. It's dreary though today.

LOL. That is the fun about talking with people from all parts of the globe. Things are so different for different people. Here the weather is fine. We just had a loot of rain a few weeks ago. But now it is fine. Look how the cats enjoy the sun. BTW. Those are not my cats.

No, that is not a joke, it really did snow with two weeks of summer left. It's this bizarro thing that happened and it is just wrong. Normal for this time of year is 18C. Could not believe I was shoveling snow yesterday. There are broken tree branches everywhere, some of them in power lines so some people didn't have power for hours. It's almost a disaster. Nice and sunny today though. And even nicer next week. It is fun talking to people all over the world. Although I might not be doing our tourism industry much good when I post these weird weather things. Love the cats, Leif - no matter how big they are, they're all the same at heart.

A week later (almost) and no more snow! I'd say it's back to normal, but the forecast high is 25C for today and 26C for tomorrow. A bit warmer than the usual 17C. Eh, who wants to be normal anyway?

Yeah, wild, isn't it? Weather can change so much in one day here. I've had to carry sunglasses and an umbrella with me, and even use them at the same time. In other news, the dog has discovered a whole new world to explore - under the garden shed. Yesterday I was looking for him in the yard, didn't see him (which was weird because all the gates are closed so where could he go) and he came crawling out from under the shed with some leaves and stuff in his mouth. The 'stuff' turned out to be a mummified dead mouse. Ick! Ick! Ick! Ick! Ick! So we have a project now - putting some boards under there so he can't get in.

Tried to visit the main board to see what was happening, and received a notice that the account was suspended. Thinking that I somehow got myself banned, I came here and tried to find out why. It was only when I looked in Goonie's gallery did I get the whole story. That's the second time I can remember when the main boards got flooded with spammers they had to do something drastic.

Yes. The main forum was suspended for a short period of time. And it is now set to require log in to see anything.

Those weather images are just amazing BP. I am so surprised that the snow didn't burn the leaves off the trees. Pretty kitties, Leif. Glad I don't have them running around my backyard Here is hot & hotter. I saw a cartoon that showed an angel asking God what he was cooking. God replied, "Australia, why?" Still cannot get on the main forum...not even the website, cleared all, refreshed, still getting a Forbidden message & in addition 404...sux.

So now it's winter and we've had a heat wave. Broke a couple of record high temperatures. Walking the dog is a challenge with all the snow that's melted and frozen again. It's especially fun when you can't tell there's ice and you have to do a dance to save yourself from falling. Still, the weather is pleasant, but it's getting colder again. We have a hawk in the neighbourhood that has a taste for magpie. A couple of months ago the dog came in from outside and dropped a bird's head in the living room - ewwwww! I made my husband pick it up. Yesterday he (the dog) was really interested in one corner of the yard. When I investigated I saw a few feathers inside the fence, on the other side there were a lot of feathers. Again - ewwwww. So I spent some time raking them up. At least it was just feathers this time, and nothing gory. I like nature, but ... it isn't always pretty.

We are also having a "hot" winter. Not frost for more then a few days. Worries me a bit. Nature around here are used to 4 to 6 weeks of frost. Nature will adapt. But how?

We've had crazy hot weather too. Humidity at 98%. Is good if you like swimming in your own clothes Still cannot get on the main forum. I sent a PM to Rick, he responded in the While You were Sleeping thread that he would look at it the next day...10 days ago & still waiting. I know he has RL issues too. Not sure if Dryda has been able to get on in the meantime. I can get on at work but that is work time.

Grrrrr! I had an eye doctor appointment this morning, and I missed the bus. Had to call and reschedule. How embarrassing! It's not like I do this a lot. I did call once when I thought I would be late because the schedule changed, but then I got there on time anyway because the connecting bus was earlier than I expected. I don't think the people at Transit know what they're doing anyway. At least my appointment is now on a day with nicer weather. Well, according to the forecast. And the dog's happy, he got a treat for going in his kennel, even if it was only for a few minutes.

Some of my students complain about buses being late that makes them late to class. Worse though is when the bus comes early Good to know that it isn't just our own country. Hope your new day will be much nicer for going out & you get good news Rant: My door is locked. On the glass half of my door I have a sign that says: "Testing in Progress - DO NOT DISTURB!" So what possesses someone to keep trying the door & knock until I open it, despite being able to clearly see that I am interviewing someone? No, not a young person - a male baby boomer. No, not the first time he's done this. Times like this I wish I was a man.

Some people refuse to believe that the signs apply to them as well as everyone else. There's probably some science-y word to describe it.
One time I was going to an appointment - different doctor - and went to the stop where the bus usually stops. Waiting there, I saw it drive up the street and across instead of turning, and stop there. WTF??? So I went across the street to the other stop, and there was a sign there saying temporary stop for bus #137 (or whatever). A sign at the usual stop would have been nice too. Maybe there was one and some punk took it, I don't know. Fortunately, there's another bus that goes to the same place but takes a different route, so I took it and called the office, blahblahblah. I wasn't very late, and it was totally not my fault, but I like to be punctual. And because I'm traveling by bus I sometimes have a choice between arriving a little bit late and ridiculously early, and I will choose ridiculously early.
Today was my fault because of poor time management. I could have asked a neighbour for a ride, but heck, the weather wasn't so great. It was so much nicer when the doctor's office was within walking distance of home.

For everyone who's been lying awake wondering, I did get to the eye doctor, on time. Ridiculously early, actually. The weather was nice and I did a lot of walking while waiting for the bus. And I was done in time to use my bus transfer, which is good for 90 minutes. My eyes are good, but because I'm using steroid eyedrops the doctor has me as a glaucoma suspect so I have to get the pressure checked every few months. The fun part of the appointment is talking about our dogs, because we were leaving right after an appointment to get Radar, and I mentioned it to her. So we tell dog stories. And now, a rant: There is underground cable going in the alley behind our street. The noise is really annoying, especially today, when it's right behiind our house. I went back to bed after hubby left for work because I didn't sleep well last night, and for about an hour the noise was working its way into my dream. And it was mixing with what they were talking about on theradio. It's so weird when that happens. If I could remember it all it might make a half decent movie. Just now one of the workers rang the doorbell and asked if the phone still had a dial tone because they hit a wire. It did. I wasn't going to open the door, but saw through the peephole how he was dressed and thought it might be important. He was very nice. I'm not so annoyed now.

Cyclone Marcia, now a category 5 which is the worst, is bearing down on us. Within the next hour or two it will lash us with her 300km an hour winds. Our backyard has almost 6 inches of water over it. It was a category 5 that wiped out Darwin in 1974. Not much left of the town. Right on Christmas Day. People were killed. We are prepared as we can be. We've survived cyclones before but thankfully Cat 5 are very rare. Its getting nasty out there. We are 40 something kilometres inland but my friends are right on the coast. Some in caravans. Shelters are in place & evacuations are in place. For those of you who pray, please do so for the people of Queensland. The cyclone is massive in the areas it will affect. I hope this link works www.facebook.com/seafmcq/photos/np.113060699.1661520962/841171379255443/?type=1¬if_t=notify_me If you don't hear from me for a few days it's probably that we have no power.

I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and hoping you will stay safe. So all afternoon I had no television, no phone, and no internet. The horror! I almost felt like I was on Gilligan's Island. Thank God I had electricity so I could vacuum.

Hope you will be all right, Barbieq. Hope you have batteries for and old fashion transistor radio and food and water for a week or so.
Violent weather is getting more frequent these days. It has not been that bad here. But it is getting worse. Kind of worries me. People are starting to think about how to handle big rainfalls, and high wind velocities.
