Great photo manipulation. Looks like a picture shot with a single light source. Like it was just lit up by the flame from a lighter or match.

I was convinced it was a dark shot, so kudos on the manip. The source definitely helps show the work with something like this. And for the likes of me, to appreciate it even more.
I know the feeling of having projects like that. But as long as you can flip them out, at least your bank account can recover in the long run.
I've toyed with Lomo enough to use it as a rendering option. Key problem is that its not adjustable like Vignette to dial in the effect you might want to create with it. As plug-ins go it is rather task specific. As Sargon mentioned, you usually have to consider something like cross-processing to tone down/up various elements to get a preferred result. Source photo's for that thing need to be like that one, nice and shiny/bright, but color's can get mangled with the blend it does.
One thing I did note was that using it on a duplicate layer and then doing some other selective blending could also help tone down the problems that can occur. Keeping in mind its not a clean dither on how it works. Lomo cameras tend to come out with extra noise. Trying to recreate that noise means not spending as much on the AA or dithering in the process.
That's about all I know about it. The size result thing is probably due to clearing up the noise when you do your blur and reduction passes. I've not done anything with it at that size/combo yet to see the difference though.
Thanks for the background and source. Much appreciated.

Goonie, what I hear from the guys is that there is very little that compares to the thrill of a bike on the open road. Some of the guys in our club keep their bikes on club rego only which reduced the cost considerably. If you can afford to keep it, then you should even if you only ride a few months of the year. Not many people kept the old bikes like the TX750 or the 400 Fours after they became old hat. Now look at the $$ they are fetching. So even if you keep the bike for posterity... Leif, love your comment. Ties in well with the Firebird concept. Thanks so much too Delpart for the info on the Lomo - I like to use it a lot but sometimes it just doesn't work & thanks to Patty (Redeemer) I have used Cross-processing instead at times. What I would like to see is the sliders move further along & like you say, more ability to customise...ah well...so many other options. I like the Vignette too. A dark shot eh? Cool, now I am even more pleased! Thanks Helen. I am glad you like it too.

Looks very cool! I'm not into cars or bikes so much so I really have nothing more to say about it.

You've reminded me of a car my father bought many, many moons ago. A Ford Cortina Mark IV kitted out Trans-Am style. Complete with a phoenix on the bonnet. It was in metallic blues and he scared the sh*t out of me a few times in that car. I hope you get the time to restore it back to it's past glory

The phoenix has been a part of my life since early teens. We even had a Phoenix car, the 3 fishing boats I helped my father build - all called the Phoenix...1, 2, & 3. Reminds me of this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yjxWfyxpqYHere are 3 new ones: Derngate Glass Daisies Ebony Rose - this is the one that I had started when I saw Welshy's piece. So much alike. It's that camera working again.

Oooo - Oooo - and Oooooo ! They are all beautiful, each and every one. Derngate's blue's are so calming. Glass Daisies are simply gorgeous (think this is my Fave) but Ebony Rose is delicious too. Hmmmm - think it's also a Fave as well ..... it's really 'Blingicious' and what a super shine. Great work BBQ

Thanks Pixey. Derngate was inspired by 78 Derngate a house in England... Actually, I missed one since it's been a while. I did this one for hubby.

He, he. Another bunch of great pictures. Nice glossy coleus on black background. Kind of dramatic, and a little bit dark. I took my pick of favorites on DA.

To be honest some of the things I was working on last night as primitives are similar to what you've posted ... This sort of parallel thing always brings up my hackles and makes me ponder quantum physics quite a bit ... Dont like sounding like a metaphysical flake, but it was spooky. I shouldn't be surprised though. I'm influenced by what I browse and my focus has been primarily all the works of my peers here for the most part. The floating grid and being able to cast further depth has made me open up the new blender build ... Though I think what you've done there shows that there can be enough depth without having to resort to ray-tracing tricks ... I dont get the reference but I'll look into that later. The daisies made me smile. Lovely glass work. Welsh's inspiration as a strong sense of movement. The center piece throws me off a little. Probably because of the movement I keep expecting to see it off-center or actually moving ... ;D Wonderful Super Deco for the hubby. I do have to admit the art from this era in both print and architecture strikes a strong cord with me. I know it has to do with a lot more than just what I'm seeing based on the history I know of the time. Sort of like a ripple in time of wonderful things to come and lots of industrial dreaming. VNV Nation has a recent album cover and albumn that is pretty much based on this idea on various levels. This one song that talks about "avenues of light to guiding us home" is what pops in my head lately when I think of the curved towers and other glowing highlight aspects of this form of work. The cover art done is simplistic of course but each time it pops up I think of your artwork, hence my little side ramble here. These are such phenomenal artworks, barbie! You really bring out the colors so nicely all the time. And the way you focus on the main image by keeping the background darker and the main image lighter is clever. You're an awesome artist!

They are all so beautiful, I like the tone of the blue in "Derngate", and the design is nice too. Daisies and ebony rose, are both so gorgeous, and I like the amount of work and details in decodeco, someone mentioned somewhere it looks Egyptian, I agree plus American Indian, both mixed very well. The design of the top winged sun thing remind me of some Ancient symbols of Mesopotamia.

They are all wonderful! I think Glass Daisies is my favourite. I like the colour in Derngate and the background in Ebony Rose. And DecoDeco is nice and bright. It does look sort of Native American, maybe a sign for a casino?

There's not many countries I'm bothered that border control would turn me away; but Australia is one of those I'd be gutted about. The chance drive on the proper side of the road in a foreign country being just one of the joys ...

No updates for about 6 weeks - unbelievable! Thank you everyone for your kind comments. On dA, one of my watchers lives just around the corner from 78 Derngate...I love how we go off on tangents or mini journeys with our comments & the music that influences us in our works or how our works remind us of songs. It makes me so happy to be in this group. First Banner/Logo comp entry - Dead Bugs Complete Computer Protection Dark Shadows Follow Me (Elvis - Edge of Reality inspired) Diana Metal Madness (Welshy & Sargon inspired because it uses ideas they suggested in Kaleidoscope) Rage SOTW Entry Monochrome - it got second!

Wow. Amazing Dark Shadows Follow Me is my favorite. Such a great composition with the color radiant in the fish and the shadow on the background that ad such dept to the picture. The background itself is just ideal to give the illusion of water. Rage has a beautiful color combination and a great mixing of different types of shapes.

Oh, barbie. These are all so splendid! I saw your logo on the main forum and was kind of inspired to join, but then I realized I had so much work to finish and Sargon's entry was similar to what I came up with and didn't want anyone to think I copied him and so on, so I decided not to join. But besides my rambling, you have an awesome entry. The fish are completely adorable and like their flowing fins and the background are stupendous. "Diana," a lovely title as well as the design is extremely amazing. I can't believe the amount of details there. "Metal Madness" and "Rage" are both very well-constructed. I especially like your use of Kaleidoscope. And the monoschrome entry, well, it has all the characteristics that I like--it's glossy, it has a nice reflection beneath it, there's a great design inside the text as well as the one on the right-hand corner and background. I truly enjoyed viewing your new works. EDIT: Oh, and in the "Rage" image I especially want to note that the background is a stunner. I really like it!

Too many awesome works as always . The fish are one of my favourites from latest. You always use such pretty blue and purple shades in your works and they of course go well with gold.

DarkShadowsFollowMe ... the music that was the inspiration and the image spawned are touches of genius. Sadly I totally get that song from experience but the fact the image made me smile is testament to your skill and style. That background is so very cool ... then the pink blush of the fishes with a perfect amount of shadow IMO against it. I totally love it
Diana ... Eye candy. Great textures with great colours and very nice composition. I love how the whole piece flows together
MetalMadness ... this would be the pick of the bunch for me with a different background. Those 4 metal pieces are gorgeous. Very believable
Rage ... I can't help thinking this could be 2 separate masterpieces. The background is great - love the neoness and the orb is full of it, it deserves to be the star of the show
Always a pleasure seeing new images/ideas from you ... fancy another collab' soon ?

I was going to PM you & ask you about a collab...maybe separating the metal & rage images? Damn scary how much we think alike. I've had these images on my HDD for like a month...I missed one too & I have since completed another one but I'll let them sit for a bit in case I see something that needs to be tweaked.
I'll work on getting the pdns to you via Mediafire coz they are pretty big I think...
Dark Shadows - pretty close to me too.
